Microsoft Removes Convenient Windows Features In A New Update

Microsoft, the software beast, is discarding some of its accessibility features from the Windows 10 operating system. A forthcoming Windows update will remove some handy features that are now useless from Windows 10. Microsoft has recently confirmed that it will remove the ‘shake to minimize’ feature using an upcoming update for Windows 10.
Microsoft Strips Off Less Useful Features
Microsoft is now removing one of its less popular and less convenient features. One such feature it will remove is ‘shake to minimize’ that enables users to terminate all windows and tabs by shaking the mouse back and forth quickly. This feature was initially launched with the Windows 7 operating system. Many users complain that this feature is frustrating as it sometimes accidentally closes all Windows.
Suppose you are working on your computer and you open multiple applications on your screen. As you unintentionally move your mouse back and forth, all your work and applications close instantly. How irritating would it be? This is the main reason why Microsoft is removing this feature in the new Windows update.
Millions ...
... of Windows 10 customers are still unaware of this feature on their computers. Since it is a less popular feature and it only appears when you accidentally move your mouse in a particular way, most users will be unaffected by this new update. You may haven’t seen this feature yet as well.
Microsoft is improving its operating system day by day by adding more useful features and removing useless ones. Hopefully, the company’s decision to remove some less convenient features will make the operating system better in every single way. Those customers who use this feature to minimize all windows at once will be highly affected by this new update. Therefore for some users, it could be sad news.
This feature is also known as Aero Shake. To use this feature, you have to hold your current window using your mouse and then shake it back and forth quickly. This will close all windows on your computer except the one you move. If you haven’t used it, you can check it now to know how it works.
The update in which this feature will be removed is known as Windows 10 build 21277. However, due to some reasons, it will not be affected in the first upcoming update. Instead, Microsoft will now remove less accessible features in the Windows 10 21H1 update, which will be soon launched. As long as Microsoft doesn’t launch the Windows 10 21H1 update, you can utilize the ‘shake to minimize’ feature.
If you love this feature and want to use it forever, you will need to make some tweaks to your operating system. Let’s learn how to keep using this feature even after Microsoft removes it with the forthcoming Windows update, Windows 10 21H1.
How to Keep Using the ‘Shake To Minimize’ Feature on Windows 10?
If you wish to use this feature even after Microsoft removes it, there is a method you can use to make this happen. Here is what you need to do if you wish to keep using this feature even if it is officially unavailable:
We will utilize the Windows Registry Editor to make this happen. First of all, trigger the start menu on your pc.
Input ‘Regedit’ and wait for the results to appear without pressing any key.
Carefully select the Windows Registry icon and make sure to open it as an administrator. To open it as an administrator, all you have to do is right-click on it and choose the ‘Run as administrator’ option.
Now please navigate to the following registry key: KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
Once you have navigated to this file path in the Windows registry editor, look at the right-side panel.
Right-click on the blank space of the right-side panel.
Select the ‘New’ option.
Now pick the option that says, ‘Dword 32-bit value.’
Rename the newly created value as ‘DisallowShaking.’
Also, reset the value to 0 using the options on your screen.
Once you do that, exit the current window and reboot your device.
Bear in mind that you should use this method only when your computer loses the ‘shake to minimize’ feature. If you can still use this feature on your computer, you don’t need to perform this method. When you lose this feature, then only utilize this method.
If you wish to minimize all Windows on your computer with a single command, you can also press the start + m keys on your keyboard at the same time. This will minimize all windows on your screen at once.
