All-female Institutions

Like a commodity or service, education by all-female institutions arose out of need, and will survive changes of the time as long as there is a demand for it. Now the good news is that this demand does exist today, as evidenced by all-female institutions that are still functioning, and especially by the resolution of many students (as much as 80% in the case of Grove College) that these institutions should remain all-female.

Since all-female education is still in demand, it makes no sense to "vote" on it. It is as ridiculous as getting sales people together for a discussion as to whether they are going to sell something or not. It would be a case of idiocy if they decide not to sell it when there is a demand. And their reasons can not but be irrelevant, to say the least. For instance, when the "majority" of faculty members (some of them must be males) argued that Breitling Replica coeducation might encourage more students to apply to Grove, it is likely that they never happened to think of what would happen to the females already in the ...
... college. As for me, I would rather believe that many of the 80% of students who want to keep the college all-female may want to leave and apply to other all-female colleges. Opinions of the Grove alumni, on the other hand, are relevant. When "over half" of them opposed coeducation and wanted to have the college kept all-female, it was significant in two ways. First, it was an expression of their satisfaction with the education they received here. Second, ever since they left Grove, they must have got a lot of experience concerning institutions that are not all-female so that now their confirmation of what is all-female must be the result of long years of comparison. Therefore, their opinions are even more significant than those of Grove students, not to mention those of the faculty members. Their opinions should, consequently, receive the fullest consideration.

One such comparison Grove alumni have made may be about the moral in places for all females, for all males, and for both females and males, respectively. And this comparison must have influenced the conclusion of the recommendation: keeping the college all-female can improve moral among students. In my opinion, so long as females come to an all-female place out of their own choice, they mean to treat each other kindly. And, when they prefer to continue to get together (as is the case in Grove), it must be because they have enjoyed their get-together. In this atmosphere, many of the incidents and accidents Replica Watches current in places of co-education and all-male education may not happen. And physical lighting and damage that the males are notorious for may happen only rarely among females or in all-female places.

That is why I don't see a single benefit from a change to coeducation in Grove. But I see at least one demerit of such change. Since so many of the alumni have expressed their support for all-female education in Grove, I doubt whether they will continue to support, financially or otherwise, something that is no longer all-female.

All-female institutions have been on a sharp decrease over the last century. They are now threatened with extinction. I trust firmly, honestly, and manly that it is high time to do something so that they will not disappear from the globe. I believe this preservation, as is voiced in the above very constructive recommendation, is in the interest of females and males as well. It is a big environmental effort, to be sure.
