Female-led Plastic Man Is Under Development

The female-led Plastic Man film is under development. DC hired Amanda Idoko to write the screenplay of the movie and brought the rights of the project.

The Plastic Man is an animated series produced by Ruby-Spears Productions. The series included several components like Baby Plas, Plastic Family, Plastic Man, Fangface and Fangpuss, Rickety Rocket, and Mighty Man and Yukk.

The show revolves around Plastic Man, his girlfriend Penny, and his sidekick Hula-Hula; they travel the world and are given the Chief’s assignment to stop society’s threats. The Plastic Man is known for his humor in a serious situation. The second series majorly depends on Penny’s crush on him and how they get married.

Plastic Man (Patrick “Eel” O’Brian) was created by Jack Cole in 11941 for Quality Comics. The DC Comics took over the comics Plastic Man in 1956 and easily became fans’ favorite. The character of Plastic Man also has some interactive sequences with Batman and joining the Justice League.

... movie will be a little different than the original comic and might provide its audience a different perspective. However, there are no details regarding the director and actors involved with the project.

In the 1990s, Warner Bros. had planned to adapt the comic book series Plastic Man. The studio had also hired the Wachowski sisters for the scriptwriting. Later the film underwent production hell until 2000. In 2000, actor Keanu Reeves was attached to the project, but the project was shelved again.

The upcoming Plastic Man will be the first live-action adaptation, which might be a little risky move. As the film’s lead character would be centered around a female character and fans might not be well with the lead female. Although a very brave step, Warner Bros. is slowly trying to change the superman’s stereotype by introducing superwoman. Fans might have a difficult time watching the female version of Plastic Man. The female-centric film might deliver an odd sideline for the film.

Apart from that, even if DC planned to create a gender-bent Plastic Man, many critics will claim that the adaptation is not true to the original comics. The Marvel studio has taken the same risk with the project Eternals; the studio is swapping three main characters. However, the Plastic Man is a humorous and fun comic, so if written brilliantly, there is plenty of room for the DC character to play around.

The team has not shared much about the plot and the details, and till then, the project will continue to make speculations regarding the female-led Plastic Man. Hopefully, DC will soon update something crucial about the movie.
