Great Pretender: Will We See Another Season Of The Show?

Great Pretender left fans with a happy ending; however, it was more of an open-ended conclusion, so no one can confidently say that the series won’t be back. In fact, there are many possibilities that give the impression that the show might come back for another season. The season finale was about the heist that Edamura pulled off with the Confidence Man team. However, the fans were left with many possibilities that included interpersonal drama and more heists in the future.

After completing their final heist, Edamura and Laurent sit with each other to discuss the implications of their retirement and their plans. Although it is evident that both of them are unsure of what they want to do now, they have decided to move forward with their lives, leaving their past behind them. After Edamura goes to sleep, Laurent throws his treasured ring given to him by Dorothy into the ocean. It appears that he has finally made up his mind and moved on from his obsession with her. Until this point, it seems that the show is ending on a good note, but the epilogue opens up several possibilities leaving room for speculation that we might ...

Edamura’s father mentions that he has found foster parents for the rescue kids in front of his wife’s grave. Kudo is whining over his ex-wife as he now lives with her daughter only. He is drinking his sorrows away with Shi-won. Edamura is traveling and learning about coffee all over the globe while Abbie is bouldering in Nevada. Cynthia has taken Kawain. He is yet to decide about his college course, and there is a possibility that he might be into arts as he is shown to be buying paintings on the streets. The season finale opened up many possibilities by showing different sides to some of the characters while it also introduced Kawain. It seems that the characters have moved on, and they won’t go for another criminal heist, as of now at least.

Interestingly, Dorothy is still alive, and she somehow ended up with the ring that Laurent threw away. A fisherman and his wife helped her when they found him on an island near Taiwan. Surprisingly, she has lost her memories. The couple calls her by the name Xiangxiang. However, she is regaining her memories with time. Since she has already recalled previous heists, it seems that it is only a matter of time before she remembers Laurent and the rest of the team.

So overall, there are a lot of possibilities open for the show to explore. The U.S President heist, in particular, looks like the most exciting, which will put all past missions to shame. Then there is also the chance that Dorothy might regain her memories and reunite with Laurent. Although the characters have made peace with their past, there is certainly still room for more adventure, and the fans of Great Pretender will hope that the show will make a return for another season.
