You probably have heard about the Mt. Everest. It is the highest mountain in the world. There are millions of people visiting the Everest base camp every year from all around the world. You also might have a dream to reach Everest base camp at least once in your life. But, you might not have enough time or can’t walk in the high Himalayan land.

Of course! Trekking is one of the best options to reach the Everest base camp and explore well the region. There is another easy way which is the fastest option to reach Everest base camp from Kathmandu. Let’s talk about the ways to visit Everest base camp from Kathmandu.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp

There used to be lots of trekkers on this route when there was no airport in Lukla to connect to the Everest base camp. It is a long Everest trek, and there are lots to explore. You can see numerous traditional village in the lower region with cultivated landscapes.

A long drive around 7 hours on a bus takes to Jiri and stay overnight here. After that, the trail goes to Bhandara passing Sivalaya and Deurali. Then you will trek to Sette and Junbesi via Lamjura La pass. The next places from Junbesi go to Nunthala, Kharikhola, Chaurikharka and meet the Lukla trail in Chheplung. Trekking from Jiri prevents altitude sickness.

Salleri to Everest Base Camp

Salleri hiking route is also a long but, it is a few days shorter compared to Jiri route. It is a new hiking itinerary to Everest base camp than the others. The driving road has started just a few years back. Salleri to Everest base camp trek offers beautiful landscapes of the lower and higher region. It also prevents a lot from altitude sickness because you start the trip from low elevated land and trek gradually to more elevation.

You will start a jeep drive from Kathmandu to Salleri and trek to Nunthala, Kharikhola and Chheplung before meeting the main trail goes from Lukla. If you don’t want to drive a few hours through the hillside road but, still want to trek from Salleri route, you can fly to Phaplu from Kathmandu and start the trip.

Lukla to Everest Base Camp

Oh yes! You might be looking for this one because it is the most famous hiking route of the Everest base camp. There are thousands of trekkers using this itinerary every year to reach the Everest base camp from Kathmandu. Lukla to Everest base camp is a 12 days trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. It takes eight days to visit the base camp, including two altitude practice days on the way up.

Trekking to Everest base camp via Lukla starts with a short scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and treks to Phakding, Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. After that, the trip goes to Lobuche and Gorakshep before reaching the base camp. Then the trip turns back following the same paths to Lukla and flights back to Kathmandu.

If you don’t have 12 days or don’t want to walk on the same trails after the base camp visit, you can fly back from Gorakshep on a helicopter direct to Kathmandu. It is helicopter return Everest base camp trek.

Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour

Everest base camp helicopter tour is only the option to reach Everest base camp from Kathmandu within a couple of hours. It is a landing tour, so you will have several landings after the helicopter takes off from Kathmandu. You have to join a tour or charter a chopper if you like.

Everest base camp helicopter flight suits them, who have a short leave in Kathmandu, can’t trek or honeymoon couples. If you don’t wish to reach the base camp but, would like to explore the great Himalaya, Everest scenic mountain flight can be perfect.
