Progressive Cavity Pumps Move Highly Viscous Liquids With Ease
A Progressive Cavity Pump is used when the liquid has a higher viscosity, or thickness, than water. Roto Pumps is the leading Progressive Cavity Pump Manufacturer. A Progressive Cavity Pump is a versatile pump. It is one type of Positive Displacement pumps, which is used in many industrial applications. It is used when the liquid has a higher viscosity or thickness than water. The slurries and fluids containing suspended particles are transferred with the help of these pumps.
This versatile pump offers a continuous, gentle, and low pulsating flow of media. This pump also requires less NPSH. It is used in Oil and gas, chemicals, wastewater, food and beverage, paper, and many more industries. This pump is specially designed for abrasion resistance in hefty pumping procedures. A very significant feature of these pumps is that they can be customized as per the requirements of the users.
Single Screw Pumps and Twin Screw Pumps fall under the category of Progressive Cavity Pumps. Progressive Cavity Pumps are well known as Single screw pumps. These pumps comprise of a precision mechanized single external helix metallic ...
... rotor and double internal helix elastomer stator. In the single screw pump, the rotor is connected to the stator. When the motor starts, the rotor turns with the stator, and a sealing line is formed along the axis of the rotor. Cavities are formed which carry the fluid while moving from the suction end to the discharge end.
On the other hand, Twin-Screw Pumps use the principle of Positive Displacement to run. Timing gears are fixed to the two rotors inside the cylindrical compartment of the Twin-Screw pumps. The motor of the pump makes the two rotors move in a different direction. One rotor moves in clockwise, and the other rotor moves in the anti-clockwise direction. The movement of the rotor pulls the fluid inside the pump through the suction end. The opposite motion of the rotors helps in sustaining the hydraulic balance.
The Twin-Screw pumps work on the principle of Roto Gear Timed Dual. These pumps are dependent on the rotation of two screw spindles. When the spindles start rotating, the liquid is drawn towards the end of the screw spindles. It is trapped between the bore of the pump compartment and the flanks of the screws. It is then driven axially from both ends towards the centre. Such a dual flow revokes the axial thrust effectively, thereby allowing the screw spindles to rest in a state of hydraulic balance. The Twin-Screw pumps ensure high volume efficiency and all-round performance.
