Defeating a high-level boss can be intriguing. At the same time, gamers can argue how easy it was to kill a first-level boss or a medium level boss, but they can't back out from the fact that some game bosses are Impenetrable. No matter how hard you try, you can't just defeat some bosses without a proper strategy. One such game is the cult classic Metal Gear Solid, whose reputation is pretty badass among the gaming freaks. Since its release on July 13, 1987, Metal Gear Solid has evolved into a community of hardcore gamers, and among the best Metal Gear Solid games, here are the 5 Scariest boss fights in the long-running franchise of MGS.

Senator Armstrong

How often do we see a buffed politician with a nanotech infusion? In 2018, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, players have to defeat some of the strongest bosses in the game, but Senator Armstrong is just built differently.
With the superhuman strength and an unbreakable defense, Senator Armstrong can send some new players back to their home. Imagine a powerful politician with a mighty arsenal at his disposal. The nanotech infusion mixed with Senator Armstrong's hateful personality makes him almost immortal and a scary-looking boss who stands at 7 feet tall.

While the early Metal Gear games were not as badass as the new ones. Some bosses were frightening enough to break down the player's morale as they were just impossible to kill. Gray Fox, also known as Ninja, fights like a real ninja, and he is immune to bullets. After leaving a pile of corpses behind, Ninja uses his stealth camouflage to hide in the most unsuspicious places and lurks for an opening to attack while the players let their guard down. Super scary, isn't it?

Crying Wolf

While she was not the hardest boss of the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Crying Wolf was undoubtedly the most terrifying of them all. Crying Wolf was infected with a monster skeleton, and the constant crying makes her a horrifyingly predatory villain. The snowy forest and her continuous crying are not for the players who are not good with horror type games.

As the name suggests, Vamp is a vampire in Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. The superhuman speed and the fast regeneration process makes Vamp a worthy opponent in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. What makes Vamp scary is the way everyone describes him in the game. Although Raiden has fought with many monsters, the way Raiden describes him scares the players out of their souls. In Metal Gear Solid 2, Raiden describes Vamp as; "The way he moved... didn't seem human."

The Sorrow

If anyone thought Metal Gear Solid could not be weirder, The Sorrow comes in as the most frightening character in the series. He was the initial "Spirit Medium Soldier" of the former Cobra Unit. Apart from hanging between the living and dead, what's scary about The Sorrow is his existence, which cannot be contemplated by any sane man. He neither lives in a world of humans nor in the worlds of the dead, making him the ghost of the Metal Gear world.

Psycho Mantis

Psycho Mantis is a top-level psychic boss in the game. Apart from his telepathy and psychokinetic skills, he can control people and make them his puppet, destroying relationships and player’s morale. Although he is not the scariest looking boss and doesn't give you jump scars like the rest of the bosses, Psycho Mantis plays with the brain by forcing hallucinations on players and using the non-player character (NPC) to confuse players and eventually kills them.

Metal Gear Solid has some of the scariest bosses, but some of them couldn't live up to the hype since the low-level bosses can be killed easily and don't hold a big evil persona like the above five. Some wildcard entries that come close to these five are Volgin and Laughing Octopus.
