Kozhikode also known as Calicut is a beautiful coastal town and one of the must visit places nestled on the Malabar coast of India. When planning a Kerala tour, and not going to Kozhikode would be something you’ll surely miss out on your Kerala tour. Known for having one of the most beautiful backwaters of Kerala, this town is a charming place, and for reasons too many. Kozhikode also has a lot of history attached to it, well every state or city in India has rich history and heritage which makes it more special. For the unknown It is believed that Vasco-da-Gama set his foot first in India here and this was when the Spice Route was established, this makes one more reason to why one must include a visit to Kozhikode for their Kerala tour. Kozhikode Beach

Nestled on the Malabar Coast of India, Kozhikode Beach is one of the top Kozhikode tourist places. This beautiful beach like any other is visited by many tourists and locals alike to watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the tranquil breezes along the sea shore, definitely an experience on its own. Beypore Beach

This beach is a beautiful place to spend some quality time with your loved ones. The evenings here are quiet and peaceful. Do not stay till too late, unless you have your own mode of transport, as getting a local commute, is a bit difficult after sundown. Kozhikode Sightseeing without a visit to the beach is incomplete.

Mananchira Square

Mananchira Square is a park is another important Kozhikode Sightseeing. This square surrounds the Mananchira, a man made freshwater pond. The special feature of this pond is that it receives water from a hot water spring, and this complex which surrounds it is Mananchira Square. It acts like a public park today, and one can head here on a breezy evening during their trip to Kozhikode acting like one of the most striking Kozhikode Sightseeing sights. The park has a good green cover with a variety of flora and a musical fountain adorns the square along with a nice sculpture to click pictures.

Lion House

If one is looking for things to do in Calicut with kids, the Lion’s Park is a great place to check out. Set close to the lighthouse on the Kozhikode beach, this is a great beachfront park and has a nice view. Other than the lovely setting the park has fun rides for the kids to enjoy. So, as the kids have a great time at the rides, enjoy the beautiful view of the lighthouse and the beach.
