Otherwise, you will compromise your own safety and this negligence may result in serious consequences. We have gathered some safety tips to help you work in an efficient manner with safety. Some effective safety precautions for safe and efficient electrical work are listed below:

Stay Away from Water While Working with Electrical Installations:
We all know how dangerous a combination of water and electricity can be and how it can put your safety in compromise. Therefore, it is necessary for you to avoid water ...
... all the time while working on electrical equipment and installations. Don’t ever try to repair or get in contact with any electrical equipment or circuits when your hands are wet. The presence of water will increase the conductivity of electric current in your body and may cause serious consequences.

Avoid Use of Faulty Equipment:
Another leading reason for short circuits and injuries due to electric current is the use of faulty equipment with compromised safety at home or workplace. It is necessary for you to avoid the use of equipment that features a frayed cord, damaged insulation, or broken plugs> this will help you stay safe, otherwise you may end up hurting yourself.

Turn the Mains Off:
While working with any receptacle at your home it is always better to turn the main switches off to stay safe. Before starting your work, make sure that you have turned all the mains off and there is no chance of electricity running in the circuit from any source. Another safety tip is to notify others that you are working with electricity with the help of a sign on the main electricity panel so they don’t accidentally turn the main switch on and compromise your safety.

Make Sure You are Using Insulated Tools:
It is necessary to make sure that you are using tools that are properly insulated while working. If you ignore this practice you may comprise your own safety from electric hazards. There is a high probability that you will accidentally touch a part of the tool, which is poorly insulated and end up receiving an electrical shock.

Be Careful While Working With Energised Equipment:
Don’t ever repair energised equipment without testing it. Use a tester to check if the equipment is de-energised, if the tester lights up then it means the electrical current is still running through a wire or energised part. Additionally, always remember to check all the wires and the outer metallic casing of equipment to be sure that there is no flow of electric current in the equipment and then proceed with your repair work.

Never Use Metallic Ladder While Working with Electrical Installations:
While working with electrical installations located at a height, don’t ever use any metallic ladder like an aluminium or steel one to reach up there and work with the receptacle. In case of any electrical surge, you will become grounded and the electricity will start flowing through your body and may lead to serious consequences. Therefore, always make sure you have wooden, bamboo, or fibreglass ladders for electrical work.
