Gunplay Review: Cherudim Gundam

Despite (in my opinion) a weak 2nd Season (also see Code Geass R2). One of the things I liked about Gundam 00 was how unique the mecha design was for the series. In Season 1, most of the Meister’s (fancy way of referring to the main pilots of 00) were pretty thin for Gundams. In Season 2, the Gundam designs bulked up a built. except for Gundam Meister Tieria Erde, who’s Gundams were both pretty bulky. Today’s article we’ll be looking at the 1/100th Scale Cherudim Gundam Gunpla.
A little background info on the GN-006Cherudim Gundam. It’s the sucessor to the Gundam Dynames (which the 1/144th kit made a cameo in one of my earlier reviews!) from the first season of Gundam 00, and is piloted by Gundam Meister Lockon Stratos (His codename BTW, fitting as he’s a sniper. He’s real name is, well, I cant go into that without spoiling parts of the series, so we’ll overlook it for now).
From the get go you can tell that the Cherudim is a different beast than the Gundams of the past (excluding ...
... the Gundam seen in G Gundam, as chances are we’ll never see another Windmill Gundam again). It even differs from it;s predecessor the Dynames by being a little bulkier, which makes sense, as the Cherudim is more hand to hand combat friendly than the Dynames was (I also would like to point out that the Cherudim’s feet are kind of weird, which bothers me to no end. ).
The Cherudim comes with 2 GN Beam Pistols II, not unlike the Strike Noir which I reviewed last week. And like said Gunpla…
…the pistols snap onto the kit with ease, with the handles of the pistols being able to straighten out, which is a very neat design. The Cherduim, much like the Dynames before it, doesn’t come with any beam sabers, but it does pack some serious additional fire power.
The Cherudim also comes with a GN Sniper Rifle II, which can fold out to form a traditional sniper rifle, versus the machine gun look it’s sporting the the photo above. Like the Pistols, the Sniper Rifle easily snaps onto the right shoulder of the Cherudim.
One of the coolest things with working with a 1/100th scale kit versus the 1/144th the fact that you get slightly better articulation, as well as more accessories. In the case of the former, The Cherudim has an extra joint in the wrist/forearm area, which is nice seeing how gun-play heavy the model is.
On the accessories front, another cool feature is a snap on holoscreen, which acts as a guidance screen for the Cherudim. This sort of thing makes sense, as again, Lockon’s a sniper.
It also comes with this thing….
In which you can remove the GN armor bits from the Cherudum and create a GN Shield. The clear stand gives the illusion that the shield is floating, and the bits can be snapped onto several pegs for different shield arrangements. I made a cool little nest for sniping fun!
Overall, I had a blast building this kit, and decided to send the next few weeks building the other Meister’s Gundams. On deck is the 00 Gundam, back on the 1/144th scale. I’ll end this review with a final look at the Cherudim, and hope to see you again next week Gunpla faithful!
