Outlook Pst Repair - Recovering Outlook 2002 Pst File After It Exceeds 2 Gb
Microsoft Outlook is an email application that enables you to communicate with your contacts by sending emails, creating and sending meetings notes, managing your calendar entries, etc. It either stores all the information on the Exchange Server system or on your own system in a Personal Storage Table (PST) file. However, this PST file may get corrupt due to various reasons such as virus infection, corrupt file header, exiting Outlook abruptly, power outages, etc. In such cases, you should use the Inbox Repair tool to repair corrupted PST file. However, if you are unable to resolve the issue then you should use a third-party Outlook PST repair tool to repair PST file.
Consider a scenario wherein you have got Outlook 2002 installed in your office workstation. You went for a 10 days vacation. When you resume office after the trip, you open Outlook. However, you are unable to start Outlook as the following error message is displayed:
Errors have been detected in the file xxxx.pst. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool.
Cause:
The ...
... most possible cause of this error message is that the size of the PST file may have crossed its limit of 2 GB. This could have happened when you were away for the trip, and your Inbox got lots of emails, which caused this issue. You may have got the notification message about the size limit but as you were not there in the office, you could not do anything in this regard.
Resolution:
To resolve this issue, you should use the in-built Inbox Repair (Scanpst.exe) tool to repair the PST file. However, there are chances that sometimes the Inbox Repair tool may not be able to resolve the issue. In such cases, you should use a third-party Outlook Pst recovery software to repair PST. Such tools are able to recover most of the Outlook objects using sophisticated scanning algorithms.
