The film holds an approval rating of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews with an average rating of 4.9/10. One of the critics from the Chicago Sun-Times, Roger Ebert, called the movie “uneven, weird, generally intriguing thriller.”

Fade to Black is indeed a strange movie, and no movie has been made like this one. For the sake of its uniqueness, it is worth a try.

Mayhem

Joe Lynch directed the action comedy horror Mayhem, which is written by Matias Caruso. Samara Weaving, Steven Yeun, Caroline Chikezie, Kerry Fox, Steven Brand, and Dallas Roberts are the films’ cast. The film screened at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2017 and was released as a video on demand on 10 November 2017 by RLJE Films.

The movie’s plot starts with Derek Cho, who tells his audience about the ID-7, the “Red Eye” virus spreading throughout the world. It is not lethal but damages the neural pathways, inhibits their moral integrity, and results in people performing their darkest impulses.

The film got an approval rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 60 reviews with an average rating of 7.22/10. The critical remark of the sites read the movie is stylized violence and has sharp humor. On Metacritic, the movie scored 62 out of 100 based on 13 critics.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Tobe Hooper’s 1974 slasher film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre stars Paul A. Pertain, Marilyn Burns, Edwin Neal, Gunnar Hansen, and Jim Siedow. The film collected a gross of $30.9 million against a budget of $140,000.

The movie’s plot follows Sally Hardesty, who visits Hardesty, her grandfather’s grave with her paraplegic brother Franklin, and friends Kirk, Jerry, and Pam. Later they decide to visit Hardesty’s family. On the way, they give life to a hitchhiker, who shares that he and his family worked at a slaughterhouse. He cuts himself with Franklin’s knife and demands money; when the group refuses to give money, he burns the photo and cuts Franklin’s arm with a straight razor. The movie takes a horrible turn from there.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is considered the most significant and controversial horror movies and influenced the genre. The film received an approval rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 8.11/10.

Heathers

For those who haven’t seen Heathers till now, watching the movie should be your first task after completing the article. Daniel Waters’ written and Michael Lehmann directed is an epitome of dark comedy.

The film follows four teenage girls, three of them are named Heather and study at Ohio high school. The film earned a gross of $3 million against a budget of $1.1 million. The movie got an approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 57 reviews with an average rating of 7.76/10.
