The things that we eat and drink, as well as our age, work against our teeth and cause discoloration over time. Teeth can turn yellow because of strains – which can either be deep or surface-level – along with other causes that we always cannot control. Whatever the cause of the discoloration may be, there are some options that you can try out and see if you can get those pearly whites that you have always dreamed of.

Causes of Yellow Teeth

• Smoking. Cigarettes and other tobacco products have teeth-staining particles that stick in the ridges of the tooth enamel. These particles build up and eventually stain the teeth, with the discolorations turning darker and harder to remove over time.
• Food and drinks. Wine, coffee and tea are major causes of tooth discoloration because of their dark colors. Also, certain fruits and vegetables, and acidic drinks like soda can cause yellow teeth.
• Dry mouth. Saliva neutralizes and washes away acid. People with dry mouth do not get to enjoy this protective effect. For instance, people who breathe through their mouths prevent saliva from moisturizing their ...
... mouth, increasing their risk at developing thin tooth enamel.
• Thin enamel. Thin enamel can turn the teeth yellow. Under this hard tooth surface is a pale brown substance called dentin. Thick enamel looks white, but a thin one allows the dentin to show through, making the teeth look yellow. Enamel naturally thins out with age, but acids from food and drinks can cause erosion on its surface.
• Medications. Certain medications like antibiotics can causes yellow teeth. Excessive fluoride intake during childhood can cause yellow-stained adult teeth. However, most of the time, antibiotics and high fluoride levels cause more blotching than yellowing to the tooth.
• Genetics. Sometimes, yellow teeth is caused by genetics. For these people, the color of their teeth has already been pre-determined before they were born.

Getting Rid of Yellow Teeth

Whether you have lightened stained or very yellowed teeth, there are several ways for you to get rid of it. Depending on the teeth whitening method you choose, it can give you either gradual or quick results.

• Professional teeth whitening. If you want to quickly brighten your smile, the best option is to visit your dentist for an in-office whitening procedure. Your dentist will use a strong whitener, sometimes with a special light, to speed up the whitening process. You will notice your teeth becoming noticeably whiter at the end of the treatment, although more than one treatment is needed for very yellow teeth.
• In-home teeth whitening. Your dentist can give you an at-home whitening kit that includes a custom-made mouthpiece and a whitening gel. You are to wear the mouthpiece filled with whitening gel every day for a few weeks to get a whiter smile.
• Over-the-counter teeth whitening. Many stores carry a wide range of teeth whitening products, from toothpastes to strips to mouthwashes. These contain a lower concentration of whitening agent, with the toothpastes having an abrasive component that remove surface stains.

Preventing Yellow Teeth

To keep your teeth white and nice, cut back on the soda and coffee, and avoid smoking. Consider using straws when drinking acidic and dark-Colored beverages to further prevent yellow teeth. Drink water or milk after eating or drinking something acidic to reduce the eroding effect of the acid.

Regular brushing and flossing also helps, as well as avoiding snacks in between meals. It helps to use dental products enriched with fluoride to protect your teeth. If you have dry mouth, get it treated by your dentist. There are now so many ways to treat yellow teeth, so you should have no reason to hide a gorgeous smile.

There are many good options where you can fix issues of teeth discoloration like dentist in carrollton or other cities. Or you can find them online for your teeth issue solution.
