Indoor Air Quality Design Tools
The main purpose of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is to help maintain good indoor air quality and provide thermal comfort by filtering adequate ventilation.
The HVAC system is the largest energy consumer in the school. The choice and design of the HVAC system also affects many other high-performance goals, including water consumption (water-cooled air-conditioning equipment) and acoustics.
The following operations explain in detail how engineers design a quality system that is cost-competitive with traditional ventilation design, while successfully providing outdoor air of appropriate quantity and quality, reducing energy costs and simplifying maintenance air conditioner repair.
Code and standards
The national consensus standard for outside air ventilation is ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2010, "Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Ventilation" and its published appendix. This standard is usually incorporated into state and local building codes and specifies the amount of outside air that natural or ...
... mechanical ventilation systems must provide to various areas of the school, including classrooms, gymnasiums, kitchens, and other special-purpose areas furnace.
Many state regulations also specify factors such as minimum energy efficiency requirements, ventilation control, duct and duct insulation, and sealing and system dimensions. In addition, some states and regions have established requirements related to ventilation and/or other indoor air quality, and these requirements must also be complied with.
Potential for natural ventilation and operable windows
In some places in the country where temperature and humidity levels are allowed, natural ventilation through operable windows is an effective and energy-saving way to supplement the HVAC system, so that when conditions permit (for example, temperature, humidity, humidity, outdoor air Pollution level, precipitation). Opening and closing windows can improve the occupants’ sense of well-being and control over the surrounding environment. They can also provide auxiliary exhaust ventilation during renovation activities, which may introduce pollutants into the space.
However, sealed buildings with properly designed and operated HVAC systems generally provide better indoor air quality than buildings with operable windows. Uncontrolled ventilation of outdoor air can cause outdoor air pollutants to bypass the filter, potentially disrupting the balance of mechanical ventilation equipment. If access cannot be controlled, excessive moisture may be introduced.
