The coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lock-down with governments ordering their citizens to maintain social distance and stay at home have affected people worldwide.

For scholars, this means a closure in school days with many schools assisting parents in helping students learn from their home.

As part of this new system, many students are attending online lessons from their home's convenience. Teachers, too, are handling lectures through video-conferencing while several schools and educative institutes are uploading pre-recorded tutorials online.

However, many families fighting to set a routine and help their kids learn using online resources can be a significant challenge.

We take you some tips and guidelines to follow that will help your youngsters to ace the learning from home:

1. Build a routine

one of the many advantages of school is to discipline the students by setting a routine for them to understand. This involves a set time for waking up, snacks, a set playtime, and learning a subjects' guide.

While at home, it is comfortable for kids to lose the discipline of a routine, ...
... and hence parents must produce a simple way for the kids to understand. This doesn't have to be set in mass, but it should allow the kids to have a learning time, free play and creativity, and a preset time to eat, sleep, and rest

This habit will help the kids arrange themselves for learning and put them in the right mindset when they sit down.

2. Set genuine goals for the kids

While at home, it is unmanageable to get kids to focus and learn for 7-8 hours as they do during a typical school day. Instead, parents can inspire children to learn in small capsules of time. For example, 25 minutes of math followed by a break and then another 25 minutes, followed by some playtime.

This not only provides the kids a break from looking at the screen nonstop, but the break-in learning leaves them to reflect on what they have just acquired and absorbed it completely.

3. Create a learning environment

Every home is different, and not every family will have the luxury of space; however, creating a disturbance-free learning space for your kid is a great way to support learning at the house. This space can be a different place or the dining counter – just as long as it is apart from disturbances like the tv, the mobile, etc.

4. Use a variety of learning sources.

In this generation of technology, for most scholars, learning from home is an online method. Hence, students should access laptops, smart-tablets, or smartphones with directed access to the internet.

Besides these online sources, parents can also incorporate other toys, crayons, crafts, art supplies, coloring books, and their learning resources. This is particularly useful for younger kids.

5. Engage kids with classmates and teachers

Just because your kid is learning from home, it does not mean that they are in isolation. Boost your home learner to reach out to their companions and their teachers, whether it's over phone calls, video conferences, or through online discussion forums.

This helps balance the impact of physical and social distancing on their minds and enables them to ask problems and clear their doubts about any queries others may have.

6. Use alternative online resources to make learning enjoyable

One of the best benefits of learning online is collecting online resources available to students compared to a conventional classroom. Parents can support their kids to explore these online resources, a fun alternative to traditional education methods. Some of these sources are online learning games, interactive quizzes, virtual museums, podcasts, and YouTube videos, etc.

7. Regular exercise to reduce stress

Daily exercise also plays a crucial role in helping the students learn better when at home. It helps lower the child's stress levels and help dispense some of that restricted energy that children will have- particularly from staying inside all day long. Some well-known coaches and trainers offer video tutorials and live streams of their children's exercise sessions while schools are closed.

8. Pay attention to the emotional needs of the learner.

While as capable parents, we all want our children to make the most of their time at the house and stay up-to-date on all the school work, it is also necessary to support and convince the child if they feel surprised. The WHO ( World Health Organisation) recommends that all kids at home be open and listen to their kid, ensuring that they comfort them if they feel concerned or worried.

9. Explore different hobbies

While keeping up with the classwork, parents, and students can also practice this time to learn hobbies such as cooking, painting, gardening, etc. These exercises can provide great offline learning opportunities, and that can help parents relax and communicate unitedly.

10. Have fun

Studying from home does not have to be a stressful life for the parents of the kid. Coupled with ample breaks, games, and fun, learning can be made into joy-filled expertise that can help fuel a lifelong desire to learn in the student.

Learning is not restricted to a location, and just because your kid is on a break from school class does not have to mean that their learning knowledge should also need to halt. For every student, their parents are their first and most prominent teachers who teach them necessary life skills. This is an outstanding opportunity for parents to actively involve in their child's learning, encourage them in their learning purposes, and build a more energetic connection with their kids.
