Growth Of Electronics Manufacturing Industry In Hyderabad
Despite being the youngest state in India, Telangana is turning out to be an ideal destination for many companies from the realm of electronics manufacturing. The number of companies from the electronics industry that are having operations in Hyderabad is more than 250. And, this number is projected to increase over time.
It would be worthwhile to briefly focus on a few of the salient highlights about electronics manufacturing industry in Hyderabad.
Due to the presence of the PSUs – ECIL and BEL, Hyderabad city has always been involved with the electronic industry for many decades
ECIL and BEL deal with very sophisticated electronic equipment used with atomic energy and defence equipment
ECIL though started as subsidiary of Department of Atomic energy has branched into consumer electronics in the past – EC TV, involved with traffic lights management and also makes the electronic voting machines used in the elections.
Not just that, ECIL has helped branched an entire cluster of electronic manufacturers in the kushaiguda area.
Telangana’s road network is more than 27,000 km and ...
... it includes 24 national highways. Also, the city is well-connected to all the locations in India having economic significance, through railways. Additionally, the Hyderabad international airport has flight services linking the city to several overseas and domestic markets.
The ambiance in Telangana has always been conducive to the growth of the sector of electronics manufacturing. Apart from the presence of a competent workforce, the state has a dependable supply chain, as well. Those are among the major factors contributing to the above growth of the industry.
There is no shortage of excellent engineering colleges in the state. Numerous qualified candidates graduate from these colleges every year and are ready to begin their careers in the sector of electronics.
The Government of Telangana introduced the TS-iPass, which is a system of self-certification for industries intending to commence operations in the state. This system significantly simplifies the corresponding procedure to be followed. As per this act, all the licenses, clearances and certificates shall be processed quickly, leaving no scope of undue delay. The TS-iPASS greatly benefits companies belonging to all industries, and this includes players of the electronics sector, too.
Other than the TS-iPASS, the Telangana government is providing several incentives for various manufacturing units including the ones of the segment of electronics. These incentives are in the form of capital and power subsidies, reimbursement of stamp duty and interest subvention, to name a few.
Indian mobile companies such as Celkon and Micromax have been able to set up their manufacturing units at Hyderabad. This became possible primarily due to the wonderful initiatives of the government of the state. These very initiatives would benefit also the other new companies that are keen to establish their units at Hyderabad.
In the year 2019, the electronics market of Telangana displayed a growth of nearly 90 percent.
The state government is driven by the objective of bringing in huge investments of almost US$ 3 billion(Rs 22,500 crores) in the electronics industry, by the end of the year 2020.
The Government of Telangana is striving in the direction of forming a cluster of electronics manufacturing units and an IT park, in two different suburbs of the twin cities. This will greatly boost the growth of the city’s electronics industry.
The state government has partnered with many globally renowned entities, these alliances are for enhancing the skill training specific to the electronic industry. Then the logical conclusion will be that; there is going to be a big increase in skilled professionals ready to work in leading electronics companies.
