The Alienist is an American drama television series which is based on a novel by Caleb Carr. The series officially premiered in January 2018 and received terrific reviews from the critics because of its impressive cast and production design.

If you’ve watched season one of the Netflix series packed with a total of ten period drama episodes, and eagerly waiting for its next season to arrive, it is going to be worth it. Yes, you’re thinking it right! It’s finally time for the second season to roll out. The Alienist Season 2 is all set with its thriller series after a long gap.

As announced by Netflix, the second season will be available on the platform from October 22nd, 2020. As mentioned above, season one was based on the novel of the same name; the second season will dictate the narration of ‘The Angel of Darkness’ by Caleb Carr. The novel is one of the bestselling books that focus on poverty and technological invention in New York.

As the name of the series says- The Alienist is referred to the criminal phycologist Dr. Laszlo as he studies the killer’s pathologies and behaviors. The plot of the first season was based on a killing spree of the city. On the other hand, a unique team was set by Theodore Roosevelt, the newly appointed commissioner, to find the killers. Dr. Laszlo, Sara, and John also came forward to join the team and carry out their investigations secretly.

The second season will revolve around a secret detective seeking Dr. Laszlo’s help to reach the kidnapped infant of a Spanish dignitary. The doctor also reunites with the whole team to find the missing child, but they cross paths with a strange woman, who has a murderous past. The new season is going to be crazy as it’ll be revealing a lot of thrill incidents.

Unfortunately, the new season won’t be featured by Netflix USA; TNT will air the season on their platform. Assuming that the series has found a new streaming platform, there are the least of chances that the series will be out with Netflix anytime. However, the season is available for all the other regions, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, branded as Netflix original.

The showrunner of season two, Frank Pugliese, mentioned that he is thrilled to work with such talented cast members and the whole team of The Alienist. “We’re really excited to bring you the new season of The Alienist, and it’s a great accomplishment to have a showrunner who will not only do justice to the popular sequel of Caleb Carr but also give a new direction,” the executive vice-president of programming at TNT, Sarah Aubrey added.
