Many companies are creating GraphQL SaaS to make their applications more efficient and effective at giving users what they want. But should you use GraphQL in the first place? This is what many people are asking now that GraphQL SaaS systems are becoming more and more popular. In this article, we’ll describe what it is and if a GraphQL SaaS is right for you.

What is GraphQL?

If you’re not sure what GraphQL is, let’s define that first. GraphQL is a query language that lets you write queries as an object structure. This makes it easy for clients to describe the object or information that they’re looking for and GraphQL will return the exact field they’re trying to retrieve. GraphQL doesn’t rely on endpoints to find the data that it’s looking for, so there’s less requests made to find certain data.

Should I Develop My GraphQL SaaS?

So we know a GraphQL SaaS is seemingly easier and more efficient than typical architectures, but when should you use it? Some popular use cases would ...
... be to simplify your complex APIs, to aggregate multiple components onto one API, or to add functionalities to existing APIs. If you need to do all of these things, you can do that too. GraphQL is very developer friendly. Of course, if you’re starting from scratch, GraphQL is definitely a good option to consider. But the really nice thing about GraphQL is that it can be built on existing APIs, which is what makes it so versatile.

You don’t have to throw out your existing framework just to utilize the power and efficiency of GraphQL. You can build a layer on your database and let it go to work. GraphQL can also be implemented in any programming language, so the barrier to adoption is very low for just about any developer that wants to start using it. In short, if you have a reason to implement GraphQL, it’s worth considering. It can definitely make your application that much better. Many companies have started using GraphQL with their applications and have seen great results.
