Navratri is celebrated in different styles in different parts of India. People keep fasts during Navratri as a sign of respect for the Goddess. In northeastern India and mostly in West Bengal, the festival is similar to Durga Puja, enormous pandals are set-up where devotees extend prayers to the Goddess.
