For example, consider a scenario where there is a company very good in design and development. But we know that web is a very vast field and new technologies are coming up every day. Suppose they get a client who wants a project done in a particular new technology in which they don't have expertise. Now the firm has two available options: turn down the project or hire a new employee who has expertise in the particular technology. The other benefit is that you may get a better portfolio when you outsource different kind of projects. Normally you get clients as per your past experience, but if you start showcasing work done in newer technologies done through outsourced projects, you will get more clients in those technologies and you may end up upgrading your resources or simply growing your outsourcing network to accommodate all the new work. So outsourcing is really the way to go for small and mid-sized firms.
