5 Popular Myths And Facts Related To International Schools

All parents are concerned about their children's career. This concern manifests in the early years when the child is about to begin their schooling.
Even though many parents, today, have a clear understanding of international schools and its curriculum, still some parents hardly know about these schools. There are many international schools in Bangalore and various other cities in India that provide global standard education but are still bounded by many myths.
Here are a few common myths attached to international schools that need to be busted:
MYTH 1: International schools are untested and offer the same curriculum.
FACT: India has witnessed a spurt in the popularity of international schools over the last decade. There has been a notable increase in international schools all over the world.
There are two kinds of international schools, one is IB (International Baccalaureate), and the other one being the Cambridge curriculum affiliated to IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Examinations). This proves that international curriculums are not the same.
MYTH 2: Academics ...
... in Indian boards are more stringent than international boards.
FACT: People often consider the Indian education system a tough and rigorous one. It is true, but the curriculum of international schools is robust in a different manner.
These international boards teach students through extensive projects and research work which is very difficult and separate from the regular study routine followed by Indian boards. Their teaching methodology is different, too and can't be compared.
MYTH 3: Students from international schools cannot sit in competitive exams and are not eligible for Indian universities.
FACT: Another myth attached to international schools is that students who pass out from these schools are not capable enough to face competitive exams conducted by colleges for admissions.
This arises as a result of a perceived notion that the syllabus of International schools lacks depth. But the truth is, students in with international curriculum are more prepared for reasoning, problem-solving and have the edge over other students.
MYTH 4: International schools are for NRI or students willing to settle abroad.
FACT: Well, many of us aspire to go abroad. For sure international schools prepare students for going international for studies, but it doesn't mean that a student has to go elsewhere compulsorily.
The curriculum in these schools is designed for students wishing to make a career in their own country or abroad. The curriculum is meant for all.
MYTH 5: Results are often delayed
FACT: Usually, there is a common misconception held by parents that international schools follow a different academic year session due to which, their results are declared late as compared to the Indian board system. Such delay affects their child's admission into a college.
Of course, international schools have their slots, just like other boards. Results in international schools ( IGSCE boards) are announced in August and January).
Despite having myths attached to it, international schools are still gaining an advantage in their growth in India.
Don't go by the rumours and instead search what is best for your child. There are some of the best international schools in Bangalore and various other cities in India that endeavour to offer the best education for your children and prepare them to face challenges for the future.
