Since, we all are living in this unprecedented crisis, a pandemic that has shaken the world. Let’s be from here. Can we imagine living without the internet? Precisely, when schools are closed, the parents and teachers have come with an alternative method to continue the learning process among the students. No alternative means could be possible without the internet.
Now, we can come to education. Education has inevitably transformed in the past few decades. Whether it is the syllabus or the way of teaching, everything has changed. And it has to. Especially in India, one of the fastest developing country, and most active participants of the world economy, education should transform to encompass every region across the world.
Today, even the beginning of a school life starts with the internet. Parents are heavily searching for the list of schools in Greater Noida West or their respective regions. The journey starts with the internet and it influences the whole time.
On the different flip of the coin, the internet is not safe. Moreover, in several cases, it ...
... encourages students towards unethical habits. Cyberbullying, scams, adult contents, misinformation, sensitive text, and so on. The Internet is filled with such stuff.
As an individual, we cannot control these stuff to being posted over the internet, but as a parent, we can keep our children away from them. The solution itself lies in technology. With applications like child filter or parental lock, we can give access to only trusted websites.
Unfortunately, many children can easily break these parental locks or simply browse the harmful websites through proxy servers. Children are smart and it is a good thing. Maybe you should invest your energy in educating them. Why these websites are harmful? Let them make their decision on their own. Just guide them in the right direction.
Instead of implementing harsh restrictions, you can create an ethical environment where your child becomes capable to adopt the good decision and deliberately avoid such misleading websites.
For this, you have to spend time with your child. Most of the children learn from their elders. Show them how you use the internet. Explain to them why they should beware of some websites.
Another most important concern regarding the internet is an excessive waste of time. Yeah! It is easy to divert from the research or study over the internet and it drains a lot of time. Many of us are addicted to the internet and spend an insane amount of time over the internet.
As a parent, you should encourage your child to be habitual of solving queries by reading books. Maybe, it is effortless to find a solution over the internet but it is also fruitful to use an alternative method like a textbook to find the solution.
