How To Recover Deleted Files And Partitions Easily
Almost every computer user has lost important data on at least one occasion. Whether it's a treasured family photo album or an essential work document, many people have experienced the despair of accidentally formatting a disk or emptying the recycle bin only to find out too late they deleted crucial files. Other cases of data loss are completely beyond your control as well. For example, a system crash or other failure might result in files becoming corrupted and inaccessible. In other situations, a malware infection might result in data loss. Sometimes, even a power cut might be enough to damage files on your hard drive. Yet another common problem is accidental deletion or formatting of a hard drive volume or partition. Fortunately though, and despite common belief, there's a good chance all is not lost.
When you empty the recycle bin in Windows, or perform a similar operation in any other operating system, you're usually warned that the files within will be permanently deleted before you proceed. However, this is not really the case. The only thing which is deleted is the entry which refers to the file in the master ...
... file table (MFT). This is a huge database which the file system uses to locate files and store metadata about them, such as the file type and name. When a file is deleted, the contents of the file itself will remain on the drive until something else overwrites it. The space previously occupied by the file is simply marked as available to the operating system. However, until another file copy or creation operation overwrites it, you can exploit the opportunity to retrieve it using specialized software.
Active@ UNDELETE is a powerful and advanced tool for recovering files from formatted disks and partitions or files which have been emptied from the recycle bin. It does this by performing a low-level search of the drive to find hidden data that may be recoverable. Provided the original files have not been overwritten, you should be able to get them back intact. However, it is important to act as soon as possible, and avoid making any changes to the drive or partition containing the deleted files in the meantime. It is possible to do this with Active@ UNDELETE, thanks to the fact it works in its own self-contained bootable environment. This ensures no information is written to the disk you are trying to recover data from, so you can also use it with your primary system hard drive.
What's new in Active@ UNDELETE version 17.07?
