Chandragiri Hills is one of the short and famous sites. It is located in the south-west of Kathmandu valley, 7 kilometers away from Thankot upgrading 2251 meters above sea level. The hill includes overall views of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayan ranges from Annapurna to Everest and is best suited for trekking in Nepal.
The Chandragiri Hills was an ancient trading route that went through Kulekhani, Chitlang, Chandragiri pass, and Thankot. The Bhaleshwor Mahadev temple at the top of the hill is where King Prithvi Narayan Shah worshiped before conquering the valley.
To begin the destination, first, we need to reach Thankot which takes an hour's drive from Kathmandu city. People can hire a car up to cable car from Thankot or take a public bus from Kalanki to Thankot, from where the cable cars are 10 minutes walk away. From there Chandragiri cable distance is 2.5km uphill, which takes more than 10 minutes. On foot, it will take around 3 hours trek. While trekking we can enjoy the environment, take pictures, get fresh air, and have an unexpected day.
There are lots of greenery areas, mountain ranges, and floors ...
... attached to this temple which attracts visitors.
The most important one essays the story of Lord SHIVA who carried his wife, Satidevi's dead body around the world, unable to bear grief. It is believed that her Bhale(forehead fell at the spot of the temple, transforming it into a 'Shakti Sthala'.
People believe that whoever comes to worship Bhaleshwor, get their wishes granted, and will find a place Shivaloka in the afterlife.
When we sneak a peek around, we found Bhaleshore Mahadev a center of attention, the View tower, children's playground shopping center, a pony ride, Amphitheater, and the Corporate Conference Center.
The cloudy skies, lush green hills, thin smooth air, monuments, and beautifully designed temples will stay fresh in the memories.
There is a plethora of restaurant and hotels which provides good cuisines. And also have the facility of booking room to stay in hotels for those who wish to spend time on the top of the hill with the surrounding of greenery and fresh air.
