Rarely do you hear anyone extolling the virtues of the portable electric grill. Rarely do you hear anyone singing their praises at all; in fact, it’s much more common for people to dismiss electric grills as inferior to charcoal and even gas models. Sadly, enough of these situations are also situations in which you wouldn’t want to have to go without grilling in the first place. Think about tailgates, parks, and campsites; these are the places where you would want a grill most of all in order to let the good times roll, yet frequently they are girt by restrictions.
Sometimes, these restrictions only go so far as to prohibit the use of grills that use charcoal, or sometimes allow charcoal but only if it is the instant-light variety. Wherever you see a prohibition on charcoal or gas grills but you need to grill, a portable electric grill will give you a lot of versatile cooking options without you needing to worry about breaking any local ordinances.
On that note, it is even more common for apartment buildings and other communal spaces to disallow the use of charcoal or even gas grills. In some of these instances, they will even specify that only the use of electric grills is permitted.
