In the events of critical surgeries, patients are needed to be anesthetized and during the unconscious state, she/he requires adequate life support through additional machinery of the medical facility to endure the life-threatening situation. In this regard, mention must be made of Artificial Resuscitators- one of the most important anaesthesia equipments. It is a device that is used for giving positive pressure on the patient's lung to stretch the lungs during the anesthetized state when the person is not capable of breathing on their own. Artificial Resuscitators is very important to keep those unconscious patients oxygenated and alive.

One of the most essential anaesthesia products, Artificial Resuscitators are available in three basic variants- Expired Air or breath powered resuscitator, Bag valve mask or Ambu Bag, oxygen powered resuscitator. Bag valve mask or Ambu Bag is a manual version of Artificial Resuscitators. This model comes with a large hand-squeezed plastic bulb along with a mask. This product uses ambient air and supplemental oxygen from a high-pressure cauldron. This self-inflating bag is a hand-held ...
... anesthesia machine that is generally utilized to implement positive pressure ventilation for proper breathing in out-of-hospital circumstances. This standard equipment is mostly available in a crash cart, in emergency chambers or other critical care contexts. These Manual resuscitators are also used for brief ventilation in absence of mechanical ventilators. There are two sub types of manual resuscitators available in the market- flow-inflation manual resuscitator and self-filling air manual resuscitators.

Another important type of anaesthesia equipments, the functionality of oxygen powered resuscitator is operated by pressurized gas accouched by a regulator. It can be controlled automatically or manually. Volume Constant Ventilators and Time Cycled resuscitator are the most popular variants of the gas-powered resuscitator. In the early-days, Pulmotor gas-powered resuscitator was widely used in pre-hospital emergency services. Later, HARV was introduced as the first modern resuscitation ventilators. An ideal resuscitation device delivers >85% oxygen when a gas source is available.

In the early days, ambulances used to carry equipment for delivering supplemental oxygen to patients during their respiratory distress. Emerson Resuscitator was employed with large tanks of oxygen to power a machine which pushed air into the patient's lungs. Later, the feature of cycling was introduced in both Pulmotor and Emerson models. This new feature made sure that the lungs of the anesthetized patient were not injured from being over-inflated. Various anesthesia products and resuscitators were pre-set to ensure a safe pressure of oxygen.

In modern days the most advanced model came as Ambu-bag with further advancement in resuscitation for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or any type of obstructive lung disease, or during the anesthetized state. The Ambu-bag allows the healthcare units to perform CPR and ventilation on a non-breathing victim with a pleasant possibility of success. The Ambu-bag has presently replaced the market of the valve as the chief method of ventilation. This transformation largely happened to due to concerns of possible over-inflation with the demand valve by new rescuers.

As one of the most advanced models of Artificial Resuscitators in the range of anesthesia machine, Ambu-Bag comes with Filters to prevent contamination of the bag, Positive end-expiratory pressure for enhanced maintenance of positive airway pressure, Medication delivery covered port for the injection of inhalatory medicines, Airway pressure port to enable a pressure-monitoring during forced lung inflation, Pressure relief valves (generally comes with pediatric versions) to circumvent inadvertent over-pressurization of the lungs and Device storage features to offer premium elasticity when stored compressed for long periods. This advanced artificial resuscitator is ideal for an environment where the air is unquestionably safe for the unconscious patient to breathe.
