3 Pass Trek: Everything that you need to know.
There is no end of adventure and thrill while you’re in Nepal. Out of all the experiences that you can get hold of while you’re in Nepal, Everest trekking is the one that holds the most attention. Trekking in the area nurtured and guarded by majestic Everest is indeed something that every enthusiastic soul should do it once in a lifetime.

Three pass trek or Everest High Passes Trek
is an ultimate Everest trekking experience as it gives you a chance to witness the grandeur of Sherpa culture and charisma of Everest regions’ beauty from close. Not to forget en-route warm, cozy and welcoming teahouse.

During this trek, you’ll cross 3 five-thousander passes Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La. This again takes the adventure a level up. You’ll fall short of words when you’ll try to sum up the beauty of surrounding areas. No wonder why Everest 3 pass trek has ranked as top Everest trekking.

If you’re also planning to pack your bag and get ready to experience this adventure ...
... then here are the few things that you should know before you leave your home.

The altitude, distance, and other numbers to know

You’re going to gain a maximum of 5,644 meters altitude. All these passes are situated above 5,300 meters. This is too much altitude for first-timers. The trek is usually 18-19 days longs and can be 166 km long depending upon the peaks covered. Kongma La which is situated at an altitude of 18,209 ft / 5,550 m) is the most difficult and tedious one while Renjo La (17,560 ft / 5,360 m) is the easiest one. While you’re crossing Cho La (17,782 ft / 5,420 m) passes, you will cross a glacier which is gain an out-of-the-world experience.

When to go?

The fall (September to November) is the ideal season for Everest trekking in this region as weather and temperature both remain moderate and supports the trekkers in many ways. You won’t spend much time in wiping off those sweat drops.

The second most preferred season to go for three pass trek is spring that starts in March and stays till May. The worst season in the summer as trekking during this time is more tedious, tiring, and difficult. Winters (December - February) can be very cold during the Everest region. Days can be sunny but nights are pretty chill and you can be blocked sometimes due to heavy snowfall.

Guided or non-guided trekking

The three-pass trek is difficult and can you have to pass from very steep and sharp slopes during this trek. Again, if it’s your first time then you may require some experts’ tips to cope up with the altitude sickness and beat the difficulties in the right manner. All of this is possible only if you have an experienced guide by your side.

With great mountain experience and first-aid training, a certified guide can be a blessing in disguise when you decide to conquer all those high-altitude passes.

Other things to know before you go for Everest High Pass Trek

• One of the key requirements before you actually star for this trek is to carefully build your acclimatization by doing some cardio back home or go for short treks. It’s not something you plan randomly. It can be more than difficult for people without good acclimatization.

• Try to cross each pass in one go as you may face a hard time to find shelter between the start and destination villages of the passes.

• Going counter-clockwise is the most intelligent decision that you can take when you’re gearing yourself for 3 passes trek. If you’re the first timer then nothing can be best from this. Clockwise is an option to consider only if you’re experienced trekker and can deal with steep altitude easily.

So, keep these things in your mind when you plan for Everest High Pass Trek and have a pleasant trekking experience.
