Will Google Have Their Own Ipad?

Call me crazy but even though I “won” a new iPad, I have been holding out for a competitive device to be released. I just don’t want to jump the gun here. It was just this morning when I wondered if Google in particular would be creating a device of their own and just a few hours later, there are clues it might just happen.

I love my Android phone and if you have one, it’s hard to convince lovers of the iPhone that there is anything else out there that compares. The truth is they don’t compare. Yes, they are both smart phones but they are as different as apples and oranges. You catch my drift? But, just seeing the kind of technology and functionality I have on my current phone made it easy to predict what Google was getting ready to do.

Google yet again has made two key acquisitions by purchasing Bump Technologies and LabPixies. Bump Technologies is known for its 3-D technology that allows users to arrange their computer desktop files in 3-D; but what they were really after was the multi-touch technology which is currently used by Apple. ...
... This means that Bump can no longer be used in a Mac or Windows platform and all current versions will soon be discontinued. LabPixies are makers of the widgets you’ll commonly find on your iGoogle homepage. These are just 2 examples of similar companies that have been bought out recently and many more that are sure to come through the balance of 2010.

The advantages of these buyouts will no doubt be seen first in their Android phones and more than likely in their new Google OS but I have a feeling in my bones this is leading up to something bigger. Google OS, is meant to be a light weight operating system but exactly for what device? The Android phones already have multi-touch but with their new addition, the multi-touch could soon be 3-D. Fine, maybe passing up the iPad till then will be impossible but I intend to keep my eyes and ears open, and maybe so will my options.
