What is Linguistic intelligence?
A‘Pen is mightier than the sword’, they say. It is because of the potential of words. Spoken or written, we use language to convey our thoughts and ideas to others. Linguistic intelligence denotes the ability of a person to appreciate the complex structure of languages and the skill to use it creatively. People with linguistic intelligence generally love words. They are good at both writing and speaking.

They can narrate stories in a way that makes people listen without blinking. They can persuade people with ease and are good at negotiation. Shakespeare is a great example of a person with linguistic intelligence. His writings, though 400 years old, are still appreciated today. It is so beautifully written that you will feel like you are in the scene when you read his plays.

People with linguistic intelligence are capable of conveying their ideas clearly and creatively. So, careers like writing, editing, public speaking, teaching, advocacy, preaching, counselling, speech pathologist and sales would suit them.

Great leaders are often seen to have linguistic intelligence. For example, John F Kennedy’s inaugural address is probably the most quoted speech ever. He did not come up with it overnight. Rather he took months to write it. The reason for its success was how conversational yet sensational it was.

Learning a new language can highly interest people with linguistic intelligence. There are also degrees related to language like literature, language studies, linguistics, linguistic anthropology, and others. The study of law can also be fascinating.

Linguistic skills can come handy in everyday life. It can be very useful for conveying your thoughts effectively and persuading people. Good linguistic intelligence will boost your confidence. Here are ways in which you can improve your linguistic intelligence:
