The trek will take you to the immediate source of the Ganges, the Gangotri Glacier at Gomukh at an altitude of 4463 m. Apart from the noteworthy natural beauty of the glacier and surrounding mountains, there are added perks such as the sight of rare blue mountain goats and the diverse flora and fauna. It takes 12 days to complete the trek and the best time to visit it is May-June and August-mid October.
4. Chadar Trek
If you are up for some adventure, it is Chadar Trek in Leh Ladakh for you! Also known as the Frozen Zanskar River Trek and located at an altitude of 3390 m, it is advised for the experienced trekkers only who can take up the challenges of icy routes and winds that can chill your bones! But what you get as a reward is the view of untouched nature, snow covered terrains and a chance to explore the ancient culture of Ladakh.
The best time to take up the trek is from January to February.
5. Nanda Devi Trek
The Nanda Devi Trek in the Garhwal Himalayas will take you to a maximum altitude of 4150 m. Nanda Devi, the highest peak in the region forms of the USP of the trek. The best time to visit the trek is from May-June and September-October.
The other major attraction is the Nanda Devi National Park that is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and essence of natural beauty. While on the trek, you will come across several rivers, streams and glaciers. If you are an avid photographer, you will never stop clicking while on this trek!
