The scale of pollutants in this type of wastewater is extremely dangerous and detrimental to the humans and environment if those pollutants are not treated and removed before being released. Chemical, petrochemicals, paper and pulp, textile, power plants are some industries that need to treat their wastewater before disposal into water bodies like lakes, rivers or oceans. These industries may have the wastewater treatment plants in the premise, to save on the cost of transporting the polluted water to outside facility. The treated water often gets reused within the premises for purposes like bathrooms, watering the plants, cleaning etc.
