Microsoft Outlook is mostly used for professional purposes. And, Outlook data file, which is the PST file, contains important business e-mails that one can not afford to lose. Each e-mail you see in Outlook Inbox or any other folder ideally goes to 'Deleted Items' folder, when you hit the delete button. But there are times, when, the e-mail may be permanently deleted without the user being notified about the reason for permanent deletion. In such circumstances, it is vital to have a valid PST file backup to restore deleted e-mails. However, if backup fails to restore or otherwise, is unavailable, you need to use a third-party utility to Recover Deleted Email.

Normally, when you hit delete button to remove an e-mail from Microsoft Outlook folder, it is moved to 'Deleted Items' folder, while providing a chance of restore it back. But, there have been many instances, in which you delete an e-mail from an Outlook folder and Outlook asks you to delete it permanently. In case of permanent deletion, users cannot retrieve e-mails.

Such situations are likely to occur ...
... if the below conditions are true:

1)You delete an e-mail while keeping 'Shift' key pressed
2)You delete e-mails from 'Deleted Items' folder
3)Exchange cache mode is enabled. Many odd e-mail deletion instances occur in this Outlook mode
4)A rule is defined that instructs permanent deletion of the e-mails

To prevent such situations from occurring, you should not use 'Shift' key when deleting the e-mail, turn-off the cache mode, and delete the rule that is responsible for this behavior. However, to restore deleted e-mails, you should either restore them from last available backup or use a Deleted Email Recovery software.

The third-party utilities designed to Recover Deleted Emails scan and extract deleted items, including e-mails, notes, contacts, calendars, etc. to a safe location. Also, these are easy-to-use products with simple user interface.

Stellar Phoenix Deleted Email Recovery is a high-end utility that is designed to recover deleted e-mails and other Outlook items in *.pst, *.msg, and *.eml file(s).
