Regardless of the country you think of, the iron and steel industry is bound to form the spine of its infrastructure. India is no exception, and over the years, this industry has significantly bolstered the overall infrastructure of the country. Iron and steel are used in the industrialization process. With rapid urbanization, the demand for these materials continues to rise.

You must be knowing, in all sorts of manufacturing and construction activities, iron and steel find their usage. These are some of the basic components of metal and electrical products. Besides, they are used in various machinery, agricultural and transport equipment, house building and capital goods.

Industrial fans are used in the production process of iron and steel extensively. Before coming to that, you should know that the manufacturing process of steel involves two ways. Coal, iron ore and limestone are put into the blast furnace to produce the materials. Alternatively, existing scrap of steel can also be used to produce fresh steel in electric arc furnaces. In both these processes, some hazardous materials are produced as waste. These ...
... need to be eliminated from the working environment.

The production process of iron and steel involves the use of centrifugal fans. Particularly, these industrial process fans come handy in applications like drying, cleaning, heating, combustion, exhausting and cooling.

How The Indian Iron And Steel Industry Stands In The World?
• As of 2018, India ranked second in the world after China in the production of crude steel. After the US and China, India is also the third-largest consumer of finished steel. Besides, India happens to be the largest sponge iron producer in the world.
• Over the years, the production of finished steel has been increasing in India. The domestic market for iron and steel also looks healthy. After several enabling and conducive governmental policy interventions, a new development stage has been benefitting the growth of this industry. The economy has also resurged, and the demand for iron and steel is high.
• In 2017, the government came up with the National Steel Policy. This marked the long-term growth of the steel industry in India. Both the demand and supply of iron and steel are increasing over the years in India. Besides, the government has allowed as much as 100% FDI in the iron and steel sector.
• Apart from this, the government has come up with a policy, which gives preference for the procurement of iron and steel manufactured in India.

Domestic Scenario
• In 2018-19, the crude and finished steel production in India was around 106.56 MT and 131.57
• MT, respectively.
• By 2021, the steel production in India is likely to increase to 128.6 MT from 106.56 MT.
• India exported 6.36 MT of steel in 2018-19. During this phase, the imports and exports of finished steel were around 5.07 MT and 5.75 MT, respectively.
• The demand for steel in India expected to increase by more than 7% in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Use Of Industrial Fans In Iron And Steel Production
Steel is manufactured using two different methods. In both these methods, in the production process several industrial centrifugal fans are required. When the ore pellets are heated and dried, the process requires industrial centrifugal fans. These industrial process fans are required for providing combustion air to burn coke, help in the handling of undersized dust particles as well as for removing and cleaning the waste gases. The industrial process fans are also required to cool the products and remove excess heat.

The variants of industrial process fans that are used in producing iron and steel include pelletizing fans, booster fans, coke oven fans, exhaust fans, furnace fans, and sinter plant fans.

The conditions in the plants are quite harsh with high temperatures, therefore iron and steel manufacturing companies need to buy industrial fans from reputed manufacturers to withstand the difficult conditions and ensure the production happens continuously and smoothly.

Reitz India manufacturer of centrifugal blowers and centrifugal fans supply heavy duty fans for high volumes of industrial applications with international standards. The comprehensive range of Reitz India centrifugal blower fans are globally recognized for their custom-made design, robust operating conditions and durability.
