If you are new to using grocery coupons and you're looking for assistance on getting the most of these special discounts, serious couponers will tell you the do's and don'ts of couponing; they'll also advice you not to depend on Internet grocery coupons as a guaranteed method of saving cash simply because they found it too troublesome to be used within their nearby grocery stores.

Why oh why?

A long time ago the couponing community primarily thought that food market coupons only originated from the Sunday newspaper; until such time, it gradually started out being cut out of the newspaper to being printed from the Internet. Lots of manufacturers thought this was the new way to go for coupons; shoppers could spend less to get the coupons because they wouldn't need to buy the newspaper and I forgot to mention that manufacturers also thought they had a greater face value. You probably think it's a win-win situation, right? WRONG.

By the year 2003, Internet grocery coupons were affected by tampering, fraud and even incorrect use. These coupons were even modified to show higher face values, offers 100 % free products ...
... and even longer expiration dates. The more individuals started using these Internet coupons and grocery stores started turning them in to manufacturers, the more rapidly word got around that there was already a large amount of fraudulent coupons circulating.

The Store's response

Because of the fraudulent coupons, grocery stores responded to combat this predicament by not accepting Internet grocery coupons at all. There were also other stores who placed rules like "Only one Internet discount per customer" or "Only Internet coupons with a face value of $1.00 or less are accepted".

The manufacturers' safeguards

You may still find a lot of manufacturers submitting Internet grocery coupons however with a lot of safeguards in place. Whenever you print a coupon, that coupon automatically gets a special number. Then there are also companies which require your name and email address before you can print coupons. This is one way for manufacturers to follow the coupons being printed from their web sites. Bear in mind that you can print only one copy of the coupon; manufacturers will only redeem and reimburse stores for one of the coupons and not multiple copies. Whenever you spot an Internet grocery coupon that provides a good deal or it's too good of a deal, then it probably is. It's ideal to avoid using Internet grocery coupons unless you've printed them directly from the manufacturers' websites or a reputable 3rd party grocery coupon websites.

To this day, the rules are beginning to be a little lenient; however there are still problems which stores face with people using Internet grocery coupons and this makes them much more stressed. The best way to make your printed coupon codes work for you and your grocery stores is to ask them what their principles are for using Internet grocery coupons. When more individuals are educated with the proper use of printed grocery coupons and the misuses that go with it, the more grocery stores will slowly relax their rules about them.
