Biomass is generally described as waste from living or recently living sources.  Wood is the largest class of biomass. Other common examples include food processing wastes, animal and human excrement, and garbage.  Algae is a promising area for biomass to bioenergy conversion, as are hemp, switchgrass, and bagasse. Biomass pellets, especially wood pellets, are increasingly mentioned and used. So, for people who use wood pellet making machine need to know more about wood particles.



Although the biomass pellet mill does not have absolute requirements for raw materials, it has certain requirements for the size of raw materials.

1. Sawdust under the band saw: The sawdust under the band saw is the best granularity. The produced particles have stable output, smooth particles, high hardness and low energy consumption.

The proportion can be about 50% each to achieve the best results.

4. Wood board and wood chip scraps: Wood board and wood chip scraps can only be used after being crushed. It is recommended that the crushing particle size be as high as the sawdust particles under the band saw, use a high-speed crusher, and use a 4mm blade to achieve the best results. The particle output is stable, the particles are smooth, the hardness is high, and the energy consumption is small.

5. The raw material has been mildewed: the color becomes black, and the soil-like raw material is severely mildewed, which cannot be compressed into qualified granular raw materials. After the mildew occurs, the cellulose in the wood chips is decomposed by microorganisms and cannot be compressed into good particles. If it is necessary to use, it is recommended to add more than 50% of fresh wood chips to mix and use. Otherwise, it cannot be compressed into qualified particles.

6. Fibrous materials: Fibrous materials should control the length of the fiber. Generally, the length should not exceed 5mm. If the fiber is too long, it will easily block the feeding system and burn the feeding system motor. Fibrous materials should control the length of the fiber.
