SourceMicrosoft Teams Custom Backgrounds: Upload Your Image

The users of Microsoft Teams can upload their background images for calls through a video conferencing app. Microsoft is leveling up the field between the Teams app and the Zoom feature.

Microsoft has travelled far ahead in its quest to make its video chat feature Teams supreme and outstanding. It seems that the company has become successful in its pursuit. It is now supporting custom backgrounds, one of the most beloved features first adopted by video conferencing app, Zoom.

Initially, when Zoom allowed its users to upload their custom backgrounds feature, people everywhere welcomed it wholeheartedly. Now, ...
... the customizations in virtual call backgrounds have become a standard for the industry.

The current health outbreak pushed almost everyone to stay and work from home. As people all across the world are forced to stay at home and companies to allow the people to work from home, the need for video conferencing apps was felt immensely. The social distancing and work from home forced people to use video chat apps more and more. Also, the current situation has encouraged many companies to come out with more video chats apps. As and when companies started launching video chat apps, they also got busy in introducing various innovations in these apps to make them more productive and useful for the businesses and individuals. The introduction of custom backgrounds is also an example of such engaging tweaks.

It is a known fact that most of the users often do not take any interest in pointing cameras in their offices and living rooms. In such a situation, custom backgrounds came to the rescue of the users and worked great to hide the distractions. Moreover, these custom backgrounds have been enjoyed by almost every user during the video chats. Until now, Zoom had allowed its users to upload their images for video chat backgrounds. Now another popular video conferencing app, Microsoft Teams has also allowed its users to upload their pictures for video chat backgrounds. Previously, Teams had allowed its users to custom backgrounds from the list with in-built options. The company has announced the new update in its Microsoft blog. The blog post is also updating about a few other updates of the company.

However, the blog post is not providing any information required of ratio and size for the virtual backgrounds to be uploaded. But, the blog post has set the resolution about 4096×2160 for the images which is standard for 4K cinema. It means we can conclude that models of 16:9 ratio should work for uploading a custom background. The image resolution set by Zoom is 1920×1080 which is considered as the standard and common size for almost all displays. So, the users will find nearly all images fine for uploading as their custom background. Also, whatever you will search for Zoom custom backgrounds will apply to Teams.

Use Your Images to Set as Teams’ Custom Background

If you want to enable the feature, then it is very easy to implement. First, log in to Microsoft Teams virtual meeting and click on the icon of three dots placed horizontally. Once you click on three dots, it will bring you the list with various options. You will need to select and click on “show background effects“. You will be redirected to multiple possibilities with the new option with the title “+Add New“. For uploading an original image, You will need to click on the option +Add New which will add the particular image to the list of custom background options. You can choose your model for uploading from the background option list.

It is worthwhile to understand that the custom background image chosen by the user will also work without any green screen. It is very much the same as it worked previously with pre-installed options of Microsoft. Microsoft Teams will still use the same artificial intelligence and algorithms that will separate the users from the custom background. Now, if you want to know about the impacts of a specific color and the conditions of lighting within your room, then it advisable to first test the first new custom background in a solo room of Meet Now. Then, you can think of debuting the Meet Now publically.
