New Driver's Tips: How To Drive With Confidence?
Congratulations on your driving license! But that's not enough to deem you a good driver.
Excellent driving comes with practice and experience, which demands your time and dedication. Before you think of yourself as the perfect driver just because you aced the driving test, are you sure that you are ready to take on the challenges that you will face on the road?
Here is an article which is a must-read for every new driver trying to enjoy their driving journey without facing many accidents. Read on!
1. Always drive with properly adjusted mirrors
Driving with a blind spot can be dangerous for you and others on the roads, and properly adjusted mirrors eliminate it.
From your sides to the rearview mirror, adjust every mirror to make sure that you have a perfect vision from every angle.
2. Look around you
Good driving practices include keeping an eye on the other car's behaviour on the road as well.
If you notice a car in your vicinity slowing down, then follow suit to avoid any accidents. Also, avoid tailgating as it is one of the significant reasons for rear-end collisions. ...
... And if you feel someone is tailgating you, sudden braking can again lead to an accident, so be careful.
3. Drive a well-serviced car
Driving with a misaligned steering wheel or noises isn't only annoying but dangerous on the road as well.
As a new driver, develop a habit of driving only adequately serviced vehicles. Such a practice diminishes the chances of any accidents or mishappenings while driving.
Get your car serviced by a reliable mechanic in Marrickville every few months for a smooth driving experience always.
4. No drinking and driving rule is for a reason
Never make the mistake of drinking and driving.
Irrespective of how low intoxicated you are, even the slightest carelessness on the road can end you up in big trouble. Either designate a responsible and non-intoxicated friend to take you home safely or call a cab.
5. Practice parking
One of the major areas where new drivers often face fear and low confidence is the parking.
Practice parking as much as possible. From parallel to perpendicular parking, try all sorts of parking repeatedly till you ace it. Once you have mastered the art of beautifully and safely parking, driving on a straight road won't be an issue for you.
6. Leave your phone
Many people, especially new drivers, make the mistake of using their mobile phones while driving.
Keep your phone aside if you don't want to cause an accident. Make it a rule from the very beginning to fully concentrate on the road while driving, leaving all distractions aside, including your phone and stereo system.
When you are behind the wheel, your attitude profoundly matters. Make sure that you are aware of your responsibility as a driver and use your skills well to practice safe driving. Good luck!
