What Are Different Configurations Of Solar Water Tanks?
SolarStor Solar Water Tanks are only the water tanks and are UL and CSA certified in North America. These tanks come with two large size internal heat exchangers and a backup 4.5 KW electric element. They are suitable options for all types of solar heating systems like solar water heaters, solar home heating systems, solar pools and hot tubs.
Using this tank can help you expand solar heating system at any time without any new equipment. Generally, solar water tanks are used in solar heating packages to work like buffer tanks. When the sun shines consistently, water will be heated in the solar storage tank to use later, mostly in the evening.
There are three different types of solar water tank configurations used in North America; like: Solar Pre-Heat, Solar Combo Electric Tank and Solar Dual Heat Exchanger Tank. Please keep in mind that SolarStor Water Tanks are the only three in one solar water tanks in North America.
Solar Pre-heat Tank for Water Heating –
The most common solar heating tank configuration ...
... is the solar pre-heat tank for water heating. This type of system is used in homes having a water heater (electric, gas, oil and tank-less). This system stores the solar heated hot water that is then drawn into the main tank when the hot water faucets are open.
There's a large 14 ft2 internal heat exchanger for heating potable water inside the tank. The pre-heat tank heats up the cold ground water before entering the ordinary water tank. In this way, the ground or main line water of around 35 F can be preheated to over 120 degrees before entering the primary heating tank.
Combo Tank with Solar and Electric –
The common solar water heating tank configuration is the combo tank with solar and electric. It uses the built-in 14 ft2 heat exchanger on the bottom of the tank and the middle 4.5 KW heating element like a backup.
Solar hot water circulates throughout the solar loop and internal heat exchanger heating the water inside the tank. This type of tank works really well for new homes or replacement tanks. SolarStor hot water tanks are 100% UL listed and can be used in any solar application around the US or Canada.
Dual Solar Heating –
This solar storage tank configuration is ideal for dual solar heating applications and uses both the top and bottom heat exchanger with or without electric element supplement. The bottom heat exchanger heats water from the bottom and the upper heat exchanger is the hottest part of the solar tank.
The hot water around the upper coil transfers heat to a secondary heating zone like radiant floor loop or a furnace air to water heat exchanger. This solar storage tank configuration is designed for both residential hot water and heating applications.
Moreover, you can use the electric heating element as it's included in all tanks. This allows you to use SolarStor hot water tanks as complete hydronic heating system boiler. Unlike other boilers, this tank is supplemented by free solar energy.
Final Consideration –
Take a look at different configurations of solar water tanks. Consider investing in SoalrStor Hot Water Tanks and get ready to take advantage of its benefits over others.
