R.i.p. Facebook Lite: Facebook Gets Rid Of Facebook Lite

Personally, I didn’t care for the lite version of Facebook, which was supposed to take out the excess baggage that comes with the full site. I found it to be an utter waste of time. When I first went to the site I wasn’t surprised at how lame I found it to be, especially when most things “lite” are just… not as good (e.g. Lite Beer which has slightly less calories and much less flavor, Lite cigarettes, which are just as bad for you as regular cigarettes and let’s not forget Lite FM, which suits some, but definitely not the majority).

The idea behind Facebook Lite was to have “A Faster, Simpler Facebook,” which I suppose it was, but it was still a waste to put resources into. Too bad Facebook Inc. realized that a little too late, but in any case I’m sure it was worth the try.

I will admit, however, that the site had some things that I appreciated. Like the removal of annoying apps and some of the clutter that comes with Facebook.com. Its simplicity was undeniable, bringing many ...
... back to the site’s originality that caused some to choose Facebook over MySpace in the first place.

The latest redesign to Facebook simplifies it to a degree and they have moved towards getting rid of many of the annoying notifications that come into your Facebook feed, but those minor annoyances were not enough for me to want to use Facebook Lite.

And on that note, R.I.P. FB Lite, we barely knew thee.
