Some Popular Causes And Methods Of Overspray Removal
Overspray is basically any excess paint, insoluble airborne particulate, varnish, or any other stains that gets stuck on a surface. When attached to a car, it gives a gritty touch to its surface. There are many causes of overspray sticking to a vehicle. Let us discuss some of them.
Causes of Overspray
The main causes of overspray are road work, construction, and exterior painting of houses or other buildings. When this paint dries, it causes little specks of dirt which become very hard and difficult to remove. If you have parked your vehicle near any such area, there are chances that your vehicle might get stains of overspray. Especially when it comes to the front or back screen of your car, it can prove to be quite a hassle because you will face difficulty in driving and it will also not look nice.
The following are some methods by which you can remove overspray from glass or any other surface.
Methods of Overspray Removal
There are many different methods and techniques for overspray removal. They all vary and depend upon how tough the speck has become, the amount of overspray, ...
... and how big are the stains.
1- Rubbing of a Regular Clay Bar
By rubbing a regular clay bar thoroughly on the area affected by overspray, you can get rid of the overspray. But this can be effective only if the stains are not too hard and old. If this is not helping you out, you can also add a little amount of sand to your clay bar but it may also leave scratches on your remove Overspray from glass screen or can remove a small part of the topmost clear coat of your vehicle, leaving it looking rough.
2- Hard Plastic Razors
There is one more method of overspray removal and that is with the use of plastic razors. You can easily get plastic razors from the market which is made up of hard plastic. These razors are similar to the blades of a razor, but they are only made up of plastic. By pushing plastic razor against the overspray, you can remove it easily. These razors are safe to use and will not leave any scratch on your vehicle.
However, you should make sure that you only buy pure plastic razors for this purpose. Glass scrapers and razor blades are similar to plastic razors but they are harmful as they can damage your glass screen or the metallic surface of your car.
3- Dipping in Solvents or in Oils
This method of overspray removal can only be applicable if your overspray is fresh. By soaking the affected area in Vaseline or in metal friendly oils, you can get rid of overspray. If you cannot dip the surface in oil, you can put a good quantity of Vaseline or oil on the area affected with overspray and leaves it for 5 to 10 minutes. After the due time, you can easily remove the overspray by cleaning the oil and rubbing a clay bar on it. If you do not want to rub the clay bar, you can also use a microfiber towel for this purpose.

If you have overspray on your car, then it’s highly recommended that you do not try to remove it by yourself and hire a professional company for this purpose.
