We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.
- Winston S Churchill
So many of us are lost in the struggle to move up the ladder by running the rat race, that we often neglect the feelings that make us happy. Factors like donating for noble causes of animal welfare, wildlife conservation, elderly care and child care, brings unmatchable joy in our lives.
There are 3.2 million registered NGO’s in India that work towards the above listed causes and more. One such organisation is The Akshaya Patra Foundation that serves unlimited food for education towards children hailing from challenging backgrounds. It is a Non-Government Organisation registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. Since the last 20 years, it has been providing school lunches to children in India on a daily basis to nourish them to be healthy and educated citizens of India. It is one of the pioneer mid-day meal NGOs in India. Currently, it serves wholesome meals to 18,00,907 children studying in 19,039 Government schools and Government-aided schools.

Akshaya Patra constantly works towards improving its operations and quality of service towards children’s mid-day meal service. With help from various donors and knowledge partners, it implements new technologies to ensure the delivery of healthy and wholesome meals to children.

Impact of the Mid-Day Meal Programme
Mid-day meals have a great impact on children:
• It helps in eliminating classroom hunger. A full stomach helps them concentrate better without any diversions in class.
• When there is improved attention in school, their grades improve automatically and it helps in motivating them to chase their dreams.
• It helps in decreasing the school drop-out rate. School meals are a potential intervention to help children come back to school every single day.
• Mid-day meals significantly improve school enrolment rates.
You can sponsor a child’s yearly meals with just ₹1,100. So, by making a donation of ₹5500 you can change lives of 5 children. With your donation, children can relish their school meals that are packed with nutrition, to help in their overall development. Your donation can be the reason why children come back to school every day. When they eat the right food daily, they perform and concentrate better in class.
When you donate online, you become eligible to receive tax exemption under section 80G. This means that you can save while you donate. In addition, you instantly receive the donation receipt and tax exemption certificate for your donated amount.
By contributing towards Akshaya Patra, you will help children with nutrition and regular schooling, thereby supporting them to achieve their dreams.
