Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh India. The town is created at an altitude of 2200 meters. The attraction of this place can be understood by the fact that Britishers made it their summer capital in 1864. The beautiful colonial architecture, pedestrian-friendly Mall Road, and beautiful churches add charm to the beauty of this place. The temperature here rarely crosses 25 degrees Celsius during summers. Shimla is blessed with mountains valleys, natural springs, and crystal clear water rivers.

Places to visit in Shimla

Mall Road- Mall Road is one of the most famous places to visit in Shimla. It is one of the busiest and most commercial areas in Shimla to date. This road is lined up with a number of restaurants, clubs, banks, shops, post offices, and tourist offices. Not even a single person can resist himself from strolling this picturesque road housing many contemporary structures.

Chadwick Falls- This waterfall is easily approachable as vehicles can get close to the entry of waterfall. From there the 10-meter walk is required to get there. The chilly and refreshing water of the falls is a melt of Himalayan snow. The site of this waterfall is a treat to the Eyes. It is surrounded by thick green Woods. This makes the fall More exotic and ravishing.

Kufri- Kufri is a quiet little Hill station located 16 kilometers from Shimla. Kufri is derived from the word kufr which means lake in the local language. It is a starting point for many treks to Fagu, Shimla, Manali, and Rewalsar. Kufri along with Shimla and Chail form the famous Golden Triangle of Himachal Pradesh. This place offers adventure activities from skiing to trekking.

Jakhro Hill- According to mythological belief Lord Hanuman rest at the top of this hill while he was flying to the Sanjeevani Hills. The temple is colorfully painted with images of Hanuman on the outer walls of the temple. Inside the temple, there is a 108 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman. To escape from the hustle-bustle of Mall Road, this place is a favorite for tourists wanting peace.

Green Valley- Green Valley is a beautiful mountain range that falls on the way to Kufri from Shimla. It is at a distance of 8km from Shimla Railway Station. It is surrounded by unexplored hills, deodar trees, and pine forests. Whether one is a solo traveler, honeymooner, with family or with friends, Green Valley has something for each and every one. It is heaven for photographers and the best tourist places in Shimla. Some rare wild animals such as yaks and deer can be seen here.

Tara Devi Temple- Tara Devi temple is 15 kilometers away from Shimla. It is situated at the top of Tara Parvat(mountain). This 250 years old temple is dedicated to Maa Bhagwati Tara Devi- a form of Goddess Durga. The Idol of the Goddess is made of ashtadhatu (a combination of eight elements). The beautiful architecture of the temple attracts visitors at the very first glance.

Best time to visit

Although Shimla is such a destination that can be visited throughout the year.

But most of the tourists flock here during summer seasons to beat the heat of nearby plain areas. The major preferred time for Shimla is from March to June. November to January is the best time to see snowfall in Shimla.

How to reach

If you want to go by flight then Jubarhati is the closest airport that is only 23 kilometers away from Shimla. There is no direct train to Shimla so the railway is not good to reach Shimla. the best way to go to Shimla is in your own car or by taxi. If you have a low budget then you can prefer a bus also.
