1.Go Green
With increasing concern for climate change, contemporary interior design is fast moving towards the green revolution. Architects and interior designers an hour looking into ways in which inorganic and non-biodegradable materials can be replaced with more eco-friendly materials. Putting up solar panels on the roofs of houses, having a rainwater harvesting system, electricity generation through wind, more plants around the house and the use of materials like jute and rattan are fast emerging in modern interior design. Biophilia or the connection between humans and nature in designs is becoming more and more important. Expect to see lots more plants, nature-inspired indoors and organic materials.

2.Mixed Textures and Colors
2020 is all about going all out with personal expression. Vivid blue, sparkling green, ruby red and bright yellows are going to be all over the place as they are trendy and popular. 4.Matte Finish
While last year a lot of glossy colors and finishes, this year is all about minimalist interior design and matte finishes. They are no longer boring flat finish, rather, they come in a large number of shades, degrees of matte, even luminescence. A matte finish looks modern and sophisticated as well as futuristic. People are increasingly looking at an urban design that brings people together and lights up a room. Concealed bathrooms and kitchens are taking minimalist interior design one step further. They focus on transformable appliances and furniture that can be folded back in when not needed and hence, create more space. This is as bare as it gets. This is accompanied by subtle colors deep greys and beige which make space look like one wall with no obtrusions.
