The summer season brings with it heat and sweating. One should dress up in light colored clothes, carry face wipes, water bottle and a sun-screen when going outdoors. In addition to this, if one is going through menstruation, then it is suggested to carry extra packs of pads and tampons. Below are a few tips and tricks to follow for handling chums in the hot and humid season:

Drink lots of water

Drinking lots of water during the summer season keeps you hydrated. Drinking more water prevents the body from feeling bloated, relieves muscle cramps and fatigue. It is also said that drinking more water also helps in shortening the length of the period.

Change pads frequently

Changing pads more often during the summer season is suggested because heat and sweat get absorbed into the pads which lead to irritation. Changing pads after every 3-4 hours can make females feel fresh for long.

Drinking Green Tea

Green tea helps in soothing the cramps and promotes blood flow in the body during menstruation. Drinking green tea also helps in cutting down the craving for caffeine. This particular tea ...
... is also loaded with antioxidants which help one stay hydrated.

Stock up on tampons

Tampons can be easily worn with short skirts, dresses and shorts since there is zero visibility of the tampon from the outside and there are minimal chances of leakage. Tampons expand to fit into the shape of the body which prevents the chances of a leakage happening.

Drink Herbal Teas

Herbal teas have anti-inflammatory capabilities which help to soothe and relieve cramps. Glycine is found in chamomile tea which helps in reducing the muscle spasms and relaxing the nerves.

Eating anti-inflammatory foods

Making changes to the diet during menstruation like reducing the intake of high-fat foods and boosting fruit and vegetable intake can help ease the period pain and make periods bearable in summers.

Wear comfortable clothes

Wearing soft and cotton-based clothes in summers is suggested because of the heat and sweat. Wearing flowing and stretchy clothes allow the air to pass during summers and one does not have to experience the sticky feeling.

Doing Yoga

Doing Yoga helps in relieving PMS symptoms like cramps, headache and anxiety. Common poses which help treat the menstruation symptoms are Bound Angle Pose, Reclined Bound Angle, Child Pose, Wide-angle seated forward bend and Reclining twist among others.

Using cool sanitary napkins

Cool sanitary napkins are suitable for use during the summer season since it is the season of scorching heat, sweat and humidity. This ultra-thin sanitary napkin is made using the cool-pad technology which gives the feeling of coolness.

It protects the body from feelings of irritation which arise due to sweat and heat. Cool sanitary pads support a deep absorbent sheet which is able to absorb the menstrual flow till the last layer and helps prevent leakage. The top sheet remains clean too with the help of cool sanitary napkins. This sanitary napkin is available in Super XL and XL+ sizes.
