Disadvantages: Process designs can be less effective when it comes to individual custom orders as custom information needs to be sent along the production line with semi-finished materials. Large-scale product designs require more space than process designs. This is due to the fact that tools and equipment cannot be easily shared between workers doing the same thing on different products. The lack of layoffs in manufacturing areas helps increase the total cost of equipment, as each additional station must have complete equipment and equipment to do the job independently.
