When your car is spray painted, a mist can float down on other surfaces of the car or its surroundings that could be anything. This means if anything is being painted or spray painted in the vicinity, it can cause an overspray on other surfaces. This also happens if only a single part of your car is being painted and not the rest. The mist tends to fall and dries up which leads to a speckled and brittles surface. This is generally known as overspray that falls on top of the paintwork. But don’t fret, as there are some best ways to remove overspray from the surface.

Causes of an overspray

Paint is sprayed on the vehicles when they need to be painted during the process of body paneling. The paint is done in a way that the paint is forced through a small nozzle that turns the liquid of the paint into very small drops that spread over the surface of the car when spray painted. The paint dries and leaves a solid layer of paint on the surface of the car. But the mist of the paint is very light and even wind can carry it away. So these airborne particles then float on to the surfaces which weren’t supposed to be painted. ...
... They get dry and hard and result as an overspray that is difficult to remove. But there are a couple of best ways to remove overspray.

The best ways to remove overspray

There is a solution to this problem and some ways to get rid of the overspray. All of the techniques should be applied after a complete assessment of how hard the overspray is that has settled on the surface and how big the overspray blobs are. So some of the best ways to remove overspray are:

Claying

This is not one of the easiest techniques. But a regular clay bar can pull loose the specks of the paint from the surface of the car and remove them over time. This technique required effort and pressure but works most of the time.

Wetland

Another best way to remove overspray is through wet sanding. If the clay bar proves to be not rough enough, the wetland will sand down the specks of the paint from the surface. But it might also sand down some part of the original paint if you are not careful.

De-blob

When the paint Is chipped off, there may remain a small blob of paint. That can be removed with a de-blob. However, it takes much more time.

Plastic razors

The best way to remove overspray is to use a plastic razor that looks like a razor blade but is made up of a hard type of plastic. This plastic may be strong and hard enough to remove the overspray from the surface but not hard enough to damage the paint.

Just Like New

Just Like New overspray removal experts are professionals in the process of overspray removal. In case you face difficulties in still removing the overspray, the best way to remove overspray is through the help of a professional.
