Difference Between Socket Weld, Butt Weld, Flanged, Threaded, And Valve End Connections

What is Valve?
A valve is a device which controls, regulates & direct the flow of Fluid by Opening or closing various passageways. Fluid Flowing from a valve can be from High to low pressure or vice versa. Valves comprises of different types which includes gate valves, check valves, Air release Valves, Needle Valves, Strainer Valves, etc. Valves are used in industries for controlling purposes, used for controlling water for irrigation, residential uses, Mining, Piping and many more.
Valve Applications
As Valves is used for Several Different Purposes in Industries, Residents, Manufacturing, Plumbing, and More. Choosing the Right Valve is an Important aspect for the Valve Fitter because selecting the right valve determines the Success or Failure of the Entire Process. The main purpose of a valve is to control Fluid flow through a system. The valve is used to start, stop, or throttle the flow to ensure safe and efficient operation of the process.
The Difference between socket weld, butt weld, flanged, threaded, and valve end connections
Valves has a Different type of end ...
... connections, depending on various factors such as valve functions, its type and applications, you can choose the right type of end connections. Most Common types of End connections are as follows: -
Socket Weld Valve End Connections
Socket Weld Valve End Connections is a type of connections which is used on valves that are made up of steel, or on applications that requires high pressure, high temperatures in pipeline industry. As this connection has a long-time span and it doesn’t leak, it is installed in a way that is used for a longer period of time and also where disassembling is not needed.
Flanged Valve End Connections
Flanged Valve End Connections is effectively used for the type of valves as is one of the most commonly used end connections and is the easiest connections to be installed or uninstalled from a pipeline. This End Connections are secured with several bolts as these connections are fastened to the pipe flanges.
Butt Weld Valve End Connections
These types of end connections are manufactured in such a manner that each end of the valve is bevelled to match with the thickness and bevel on the pipe. After this, the two ends are butted to the pipeline and are welded. They are used on steel valves, and as they have greater strength, they are perfect to be used for such applications that require higher pressure and/or temperature in pipelines. Also, these are ideal for all types of valves, and for use in those areas where repeated dismantling is not required.
Threaded Valve End Connections
For Low Pressure Piping System Threaded Valve End Connections are Required as this connection are affordable and is quick in installing without any difficulty. Once the joints of these connections are assembled, it is suitable for low pressure piping system. In some cases, these connections may be welded around the joint, once they are assembled. However, this is not much in practice as it may cause some troubles in the efficient use of these types of valve end connections.
