Info About Red Sandalwood Farming
You all know and heard about Sandalwood which founded in two types Red and White. Here, in this article, I am writing about the Red Sandalwood.

Origin:
Red Sandalwood is originated from India. It is mostly cultivated and founded in south India. It is also popular as Almug, Saunderwood, Red Sanders, Red Sanderswood, Red Saunders, Lal Chandan, Ragat Chandan, Rakta Chandana, Rukhto Chandan. In science, it is popular as Pterocarpus Santalinus.
Characteristics:
In height, it is smaller than white sandalwood as 5-8mtr. And has grey bark. It is the highly demanded wood in international and East-Asian countries.
It is used to make furniture, sculptures, poles and house posts. It is also demanded to make a musical instrument, medicines, cosmetics etc.
People attract to red sandalwood because of its rich colour. It has a less aromatic fragrance like as white sandalwood.

... is cured to digestion problems, fluid retention, coughs and blood purification. Red Sandalwood only founded in 6 countries in the world and India is one of them.
Initially, it grows faster. It achieves 6-meter hight in just 3years. Leavers are 3-9 cm. Fruits contain seed and 6-9cm Long.
In China, it gained popularity as China introduced classic furniture to the west.
Red Sandalwood also demanded in Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Canada, UK, China and Gulf countries.
Plantation requirements:
Here are the requirements for Sandalwood farming.
Red Sandalwood requires 880-1000mm rainfall and hot dry weather. It is cultivated in red soil which is well-drained with gravelled loam.
The tree has a height of approx 10m. And the breadth can be50-150cm. The tree died if the temperature -1C. Although it can grow well in semi-bone-dry-climate.
You can easily found these tree in the southern part of India as- Kadapa, Kurnool, Chittoor, Nellore.
To plant red sandalwood, dig a hole on the perfect place. Fill it well with water if the water remained till 24 hours its perfect.
The plantation should be done from May to June. Generally, the farmers took the plants from the nursery to do “Chandan ki Kheti” that is aged 2 yrs.
After planting Red Sandalwood starts the irrigation process immediately.
You should be really careful as the pests harm the plants.
The Red Sandalwood is rarely found variety and takes years to grow and to achieve good height and breadth. For the commercial purpose, it is demanded all over the world. The Red Sandalwood is straight and wavy grained. Because of commercial use wavy is in demand. The handicrafts items prepared by red sandalwood are sold at good prices. Red sandalwood is the richest wood in India. 435 plants can be planted in 1acre land. That will return 2.4 crores of profit to farmers. The person who wanted to plant the sandalwood plant has to take permission from the government as it is not permitted in many parts of India.
If the climate, water facility for irrigation process, climate, soil-quality and cultivation practices are well done the yield would be profitable.
