Difficulty level: Easy to learn and recommended for beginners

Python is becoming the world’s most popular coding language and influential. Even The Economist, a magazine not known for its coverage of programming-related topics, wrote about the language in a recent article. It is also one of the most flexible languages to learn and has a wide online community.

Difficulty level: Slightly easy to learn
C/C++ is like the bread and butter of programming. It is well known for performance and is the preferred language for graphically intensive applications which includes game development, graphics engines, and for virtual and augmented reality. Apart from that, C++ also provides something called the Standard Template Library (STL). STL is a pool of ready-to-use libraries for various data structures, arithmetic operations, and algorithms.


Difficulty level: Moderate to learn
R programming language is the more commonly used programming languages for Data Analytic and Machine Learning. It is also used for general statistical computing as well as graphics. If you are someone who wish to join “Analytics” team of a large organization, then you should definitely learn R.

Julia is an MIT-created programming language which is still a relatively niche language compared to incumbents like Python. But it has also found favour as a language for building machine-learning models and running supercomputer simulations. Not only that, it works with libraries written in languages like Python and C as well. Question is whether Julia can be the new Python?

Tip of the day: Don’t try to learn too many programming language at once; choose one and master it, then move on.
