Importance Of First Mosque In Islam

Located in the South of Madinah, Saudia Arabia; Masjid-e-Quba is the 2nd largest and prestigious masjid of Madinah after Masjid-al-Nabawi. It was the first-ever mosque to be built in the name of Islam.; initial year of the Islamic calendar. The foundation of the Quba mosque was also laid by Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) himself. That’s why it’s an important Ziyarath site for pilgrims arriving in the kingdom for Hajj and Umrah through their Umrah from UK packages and other countries.

History.

When Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) along with the companions were migrating from Makkah to Madinah, they rested for a while in the village of Quba. Here he (SAWW) laid the foundation of this mosque and also participated in the construction work.

Over the course of years, the Quba mosque has also undergone several renovation and expansion projects. Recently in 1984, Shah Fahad bin Abdul Aziz reconstructed the mosque but retaining the old architecture, especially its white domes.

Mentioned in the Holy Quran.

Masjid-e-Quba is among those mosques about which Allah Almighty has also mentioned in the Holy Quran. Allah said about Quba Mosque in [Surah At-Taubah 9:108].

The reward of an Umrah.

Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) narrated that; (description) Whoever purifies himself (i.e. makes Wudhu) in his house, then comes to the Quba Mosque and offers one prayer, he will have a reward like that for Umrah.

Well of Abu Ayyub AL-Ansari.

There was a well inside of the Masjid that belonged to Hazrat Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (RA). It became a sacred place because the Prophet’s (SAWW) she-camel first knelt there and took a long drought of water, after the Prophet’s (SAWW) journey.

Equipped with all the modern facilities.

Today, Masjid-e-Quba remains equipped with all the modern-day facilities yet retaining its ancient structure. Quba mosque remains air-conditioned by 3 middle units, each with a capability of around one million and eighty thousand cooling units. There are 42 units for washing. Furthermore, separate houses for Imam and Muezzin; a library; a place for the guards in an area of 112 sq. meters, and a marketable centre with 12 shops covering a total area of 450 sq. meters are present.

Today, Quba Mosque remains one of the most-visited and sacred sites of Islam for Ziyarath in Madinah. Pilgrims arriving in Makkah to offer holy rituals through their cheap Ramadan Umrah packages also pay a visit to this Mosque.
